Paying for 1000 Mbps getting less than 500. And STILL no buried Line

Paying for 1000 Mbps getting less than 500. And STILL have not buried the line. Customer service says they are working on the speed and that they'll call back within the hour after the internet is re-booted.  Nothing.

Wireless? Wired? Please provide more information and specs of devices.

Speed can be limited by a variety of things both wired and wireless.

Wired:

  • Hardware limitations (older hardware [core 2 duo, etc], 100mbps network cards, 100mbps Ethernet switches, 2 pair Ethernet cables, etc)
  • Software (antivirus, VPN, etc)

Wireless:

  • Not being on 5GHz
  • Device not having AC WiFi
  • Distance from wireless access point
  • Interference (other wireless emitting devices nearby, walls, metal, concrete, etc)

To get near 1000mbps you'll need to hard-wire.

My company provided iPhone 6s gets 200-300mbps on 5GHz AC WiFi near the access point.
