Netclient has stopped working on Windows 8.1

Hi All,

I have Windows 8.1 Home Basic and I have installed VPN Net Client 9.6 from AT&T on it. I have installed it with administrative privilege already. When I try to run it it throws error - "Net Client stopped Working".

I tried the items listed on the similar topics on the community like - disabling security on the system, reinstalling the application and re-booting the machine but it is still not working and giving the same error each time.

Any help would be very beneficial for me.

Thanks,

Ankur

Hi Ankur,

It looks like Development identified the issue and would like you to try the following steps below to see if this resolves the issue.

  • 1.Close the client
  • 2.Go to client installation directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\AT&T Global Network Client\)
  • 3.Locate the “NetLPE.dll” file and rename it something else (i.e. NetLPE_O.dll or something)
  • 4.Start the client and it should run fine.

Please let me know.

Thank you.

Can you please attach the support logs to this post?   Open the AT&T Global Network Client,  click on Help and Create support log.

Thank you.

Hi,

We have Quick Heal 6.0 Firewall and Quick Heal 5.3 Desktop Security installed. I tried disabling the firewall and desktop security and running the AT&T client but, it still gives the same error.

What more can I try to resolve this?

Thanks,

Ankur

Hello,

I have forwarded the logs to Development to investigate.

In the meantime, can you please send me a screenshot of device manager?

Click on Start-> Control Panel-> System
Select the hardware tab and then device manager.
At the top, click on VIEW and select "show hidden devices".
Expand or ‘open’ Network Adapters

Thank you.

Hello, it sounds like you did an upgrade to WIN 8.1 and may have had AGNC installed already prior to the upgrade?

We have seen this issue with netclient hanging in this scenario.  Generally if it is un-installed and re-installed it will then work. Please un-install AGNC, reboot your PC, disable any security program/firewall, and install the latest AGNC.  Respond to this post with your results.

The latest AGNC can be downloaded from the link below, providing you are not using a custom kit.

Thank You
