While I didn't encounter this problem initially when I started up my Mcell a few months ago, it has now become a daily ritual that I hope someone here can help me with.
Motorola SB 6120 modem -> Netgear WNR3500L router -> Mcell
The Mcell is connected to the router with a pair of Netgear Powerline 200 Nano Adapters because my modem and router are located in the basement with no exposure to window for the Mcell to see a GPS satellite. The connection is good.
My Charter ISP connection is 30 mbps down and 4 mbps and is rock solid.
What's happening and what I've done so far:
Usually once a day I will no longer see the AT&T Mcell indication at the top of my iPhone 5. When I check my wife's iPhone 4S she has also lost the AT&T Mcell indication.
Turning the phones off and then on does not bring back the Mcell connection. Switching Airplane Mode off and then on does not bring back the Mcell connection.
The Mcell has all solid green lights when I go to check it after seeing the lost connection. If I power cycle the Mcell, the phones will then show an Mcell connection again until the next time they lose the connection which is usually once/day but not at any particular time.
I have the latest firmware on all devices.
When I check my router's admin page after a lost connection, the router indicates that the Mcell's IP address has not changed and it remains the same after power cycling the Mcell.
On the WAN page for my router, I have set the MTU size to 1492 and set the NAT Filtering to "Open" instead of "Secured". No improvement after doing so.
Suspicious of the Powerline Adapters, I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the Ethernet cable from the Mcell to the Powerline Adapter to mimic a temporary loss of connection to the router to see if that affected the Mcell connection. The Mcell connection was not lost.
I have not set any open ports or a static IP address for the Mcell yet. Is what I'm experiencing indicative of this solution? Does anyone have any other thoughts as to what try next?
I don't want to waste my time with an AT&T Level 1 tech support person because their suggestions are almost always worthless. I have better luck contacting user forums and that is why I'm posting here.
Thank God I was able to convince AT&T to give me a Mcell for free because if I paid $200 for it, I'd be very upset right now.

my piont to that whole post was the NWL.. the besement setup came from AT&T from what i can tell a leak that was meant for line techs.. hence whey it says snooper in it.. thats the AT&T method of looking at your microcell.. mine is set up on main floor and works great untill its whay im going to call Flashed with your NWL.. never been told of this by anyone.. says nothing of it in the microcell book... dont feel this info was actually meant for consumers... but points the finger at AT&T not your ISP

note how it says will stay activated... but at the same time was told today by AT&T manager when asking abut NWL mode if it could be disabled she said and i quote " we only have the ability to turn of GPS and like two other features... but when m,ine goes into NWL mode for whatever reason it requires a total reboot.. all light solid.. flashing 3 g... same as eveyone else in the void.. its sending a false NWL and losing connection to AT&T none of this has anything to do with ISP .. yes if your ISP goes down so does your light but under "normal" functions it comes back up on its own.... NWL clearly is the answer to the glitch.. i called the FCC today to ask if this was an FCC requirment or AT&T policy... "AT&T policy sir".... whats the piont of having a "femtocell if i need to have towers and if thats the requirements for it to work why has and does it work flawlessly will NWL mode time.. logically explain this to me .. im all ears AT&T... is this a booster or a femtocell? depends on who you talk to????? if a booster why are you using my internet? and god forbid i wasnt grandfathered into unlimited data.. id be paying you to use your phone and data to pass through my internet? gee thanks. got no problem with that till you mislead me.. lie to me.. blame issues on everyone else...

It's still a bit difficult to understand what you're saying but I'll try again.
AT&T performs routine maintenance on the system late at night, early in the morning. One of the things they do is to check the GPS coordinates for E911 and other reasons. If they can't confirm your unit via GPS, they will try to confirm it with a local tower using the NWL protocols. If your tower is out of range, or there are other issues with location, interference, etc then the MicroCell will generate an error message, such as a blinking red light or loss of connection altogether. Both of which usually requires a reboot which starts the initialization procees again.
The MicroCell is a femtocell using VoIP technology. While a local tower is not required for activation and optimal performance, it is necessary in helping to confirm location and handing off to, or from, a macrocell.
Your ISP can have a lot do with how well a femtocell works. A stable connection all of the time is critical especially with VoIP technology and RTP jitter. That's not say that your ISP is at fault here, but there are lots of complicated pieces that have to all play nice together from AT&T, your ISP, and even your phone before VoIP works as designed.

done talking about this... its more than obvios to me why this happens.. just wonder at this point if the GPS bypass is still available as an option.. this was the reason the NWL info came to light in the 1st place.. notice at the top of the memo.. AT@T will no longer be doing GPS bypass.. weather you undertstand this or not is not my issue ... sorry i do type horribly but its pretty clear whats going on. when it works fine all day.. set up fine.. but during the NWL mode something comes back false... for people that have no service at all... but obviosly not a requirement for it to work or function hence it setting up and working all day till these times.. is that clear enough. and to top it all off why has knowone ever mentioned this as a "possible" issues when so many complain about problems at these times...????? tell me how everyones internet at the same time, differant providers goes down or has issues in wide spread areas .. hmm doesnt it make sense that they all have the same symtoms not the same internet,, but the exact same equipment.. service and in the void...

just one more fact for whatever reason it worked flawless for three days with a flashing red light.... no interupts .. now its back to green.. tonight wikll determine 100% the issue..

As far as I know, GPS lock is required at all times, period. If GPS can't be confirmed for whatever reason, you're going to have issues. I can shutdown my MicroCell anytime of the day or night and still be able to get a GPS lock within 5-8 minutes after reboot. I never have any issues in the morning with my MicroCell being off-line or blinking 3G light, regardless of what AT&T does at night for routine maintenance or location confirmation. It could very well be an upstream switch between your ISP and AT&T's servers that is having issues. I've seen that before and it takes a lot of work, usually on your ISPs part to figure it out. Again, that's not to say it's your ISP's fault but neither is it AT&T's because they are only repsonsible once the connection hits their servers.

IMPORTANT: Effective immediately, AT&T will no longer perform a manual GPS
notice in the memo... how it says no longer will... do. and your wrong they can it into the servers maunually disabling GPS its calles GPS overide.. do you wortk for AT&T OTTO?

you dont get it... it never looses a GPS lock its the fact of the void ..and "neighbors" and towers .. say a tree moves or a cloud in the way when it runs its NWL comes back not the same neighbors.. as night before.. it wouldny set up ever if i coudnt get a GPS lock correct????????

No, I do not work for AT&T. In fact, the only affiliation I have with AT&T, other than being a forum ACE, is our mobile account.
I have emailed one of the fourm admins that I work with to see if they can clarify this NWL/manual override issue so that I can better understand it, and hopefully help you.

its already been escalated beyond AT&T i know exactly whay my problem is .. the sad thing is everyone you talk to at AT&T either denies knowing anything about NWL mode from managers to tier two to IPaccess... im done AT&T has offered to refund me upto 200 dollars for me to get my own 3rd party one .. the escalated ticket he said would take a week..too funny.. when all it takes is GPS bypass to that when it doesnt see "neighbors" it call fall back to the "hard" Gps that doesnt change... its done on AT&T's system unless i was mis informed again.. witch woudnt surprise me at all.. because thats the title of the letter that "apparently" leaked about NWL to line techs.. it says AT&T will no longer support "GPS bypass" hence why in my eyes everyone in the voids system worked fine.. then started going buggy at night.. i dont know when or if they stopped doing this, because i was told yesterday it was one of the only things they can control on the "femtocell" booster.... whatever it is
