Can't get microcell past initial software update to begin using.

Received our microcell few days ago, it did not come with an AC Adapter nor Ethernet cord, but we had spare one's lying around already, so no problem.

After attempted the initial activation process the microcell never made it past the initial software update stage according to ATT.com. After unplugging the power for 10+ seconds like recommended, it still does not work. The bottom light stays solid green, and the second globe shape light above it blinks green. Other 2 lights do not display.

Any advice? We have no reception and need this up and running!

Where did you get the MicroCell that it didn't come with an ac adapter and an ethernet cable? The ac adapter's are sort of specific to the MicroCell in that, depending on the model, the power requirements are specific for the model version. The white MicroCell's are DPH-151 and 153 and the brand new, black model is the DPH-154. The MicroCell's will work with almost any type of adapter but there can be all kinds of odd issues if you aren't using an adapter that provides the exact power requirements.

If you have the black model, the light pattern, top to bottom is 3G, GPS, internet, and power. If the bottom light is a solid green, then you have power to the unit. The light above it is blinking green, then you do not have an internet connection. The light above that is GPS and then 3G. If you don't have an internet connection, you won't be able to activate.

There are no software updates. When the MicroCell initially activates it checks its physical location based on the GPS coordinates and compares that to the towe that is closest to it. If location verifies, then the MicroCell will download any firmware updates that may be available and then it will connect to the AT&T Mobility Servers and if successful, the 3G light (the 5 bars) will be a solid green.

So, where did you get the MicroCell, which model do you have, and who is your ISP?

It sounds to me that the OP described a DPH-154 light pattern and therefore has no connection from the Mcell to whatever it is connected to.

Is the Mcell plugged into a router, modem or gateway using an Ethernet cable?  Have you tried a different Ethernet cable?  How about plugging the Mcell into a different router, modem, gateway port?

What is the stated output voltage and amperage on the AC adapter you are using (stamped on wall wort case)?  Could be an improper voltage/amperage issue as we've seen this before.
