Sunday my email@example.com email account was hacked. I wanted to at first change the password, 2 frustrating hours and being told I would be billed to change my password I gave up and deleted all of my contacts in yahoo mail. Didn't help. I loaded a PC Cleaner and hope this will catch any possible worms linked with my outlook. I cannot change my password in my yahoo.com email account or even delete it. When I called Yahoo, they told me go to AT&T and back and forth the conversations went with still no help. I cannot even delete my whole profile without AT&T customer service involved, I am certain they will tell me I cannot, waiting on hold again...been 15 minutes already with no one answering. someone please help me!

Same problem here. No matter what I do I can't change my password in Live mail. I can do it through the hotmail windows live but not through the windows live client where you enter your pop settings etc
I can log into live mail then ANOTHER login box(with keys icon) asks me for my password. I have to enter old password to access mail. Problem is it's been hacked and everyone in my email address book is getting spam from me. Why is something so simple so difficult to do?

I have the similar problem for almost a year now and no one can help. I just want to delete/terminate that email account. Here is what I did more than a month ago and still nothing changed.
Attempt 1: I chatted with 3 different ATT groups and nobody can help. Just tell me to read the web pages. Did not do anything to fix the problem. Maybe it is too complicate to them.
Attempt 2: Tried to terminate the Yahoo! email account as instructed in http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/account/account-11.html (this is from an ATT web page). Selected the 'Account Termination' and logged into my bellsouth email account. After logged in got 'You must call SBC Customer Care at 1-877-SBC-DSL5 in order to cancel your account.'
Attempt 3: Called the ATT support number 1-877-SBC-DSL5. All I can do is talking to a machine. Could not talk to a real person. No available voice prompt to choose from to resolve the issue at hand.
Attempt 4: Typed in my simple request in the service survey from ATT for my Attempt 1. Nothing happened even with the rating to the lowest. The survey to their service is a joke. Just waste my time.
Attempt 5: Got on this forums and try to get help.

I'm having the same problem. My yahoo email account was hacked last week and I cannot get in to delete the account or change the password. I've been on the phone, no exaggeration, for at least 6 hours with AT&T trying to resolve this issue and no one can help me. AT&T tells me to call UVERSE and UVERSE tells me to call AT&T. I've talked to sales, tech support, dial-up tech support, online tech support chat, and even 2nd Tier Tech Support. I STILL CANNOT DO ANYTHING with the account, and in the meantime, the hackers are still able to hack away. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2nd Tier Tech Support sent me a link to a help article on how to change my password on the account. The problem is, I cannot access the change password area. I too just get an error message that says I need to call AT&T. I'm at my wit's end and I don't know where to turn to next. I'm thinking maybe emailing the consumer help reporter at my local News Station to see if they can help me.

Hello, i too need assistance, i have been given the run around from both at&t and yahoo mail. when i contact yahoo, they tell me its a yahoo issue, when i contact yahoo, they tell me that they are under a contract not to modify any accounts that are linked with at&t, i go back to at&t and they refuse to help again. please, it has been several months and no one has been able to help me. i am unable to private message any at&t users on this forum.

I am almost come to the conclusion that either Yahoo or AT&T tech support are incapable of or unwilling to resolve this simple problem. Resorting this issue to a local News Station or any external help is a good idea.
I just want to terminate my hacked email account. HELP!!!

My att email account has been hacked and I can't get anyone on the phone to help me retrieve my emails (all of which have been deleted from my account). Can you please help me retrieve my email as it contains critical personal information.

Also, if I pay att for the account but it now is merged with yahoo-- who can help me? ATT or Yahoo? Any advice would be appreciated.

Another one here. What's going on, ATT? Why are all your customers getting their email accounts hacked and why aren't you doing anything about it? I will not only switch to comcast for my DSL needs but I will switch to Verizon when my cell phone is up for renewal.
This needs to get fixed pronto! I got more help from gmail when my account was hacked and that was open source!
Just want to change the password and it's confusing.

Hi! I posted on here the other day. I have had the same problem - YAHOO account hacked, sending emal to everyone who ever sent me an email. Absolutely NO HELP from ATT after 3 different chats with "customer support" and numerous phone calls. SO....finally, a friend of mine emails me and tells me to add a bogus email address into my contacts - one that will be at the BEGINNING of your contact list such as firstname.lastname@example.org or what ever. I did this and so far (for last 24 hours) no bogus messages sent out.
As for my YAHOO password - somehow it is merged with SBCGLOBAL OLD, OLD, OLD account. I did not merge, I did not ASK to have merged. But ATT can't seem to help. They need to quit "merging" accounts when we didn't request it. Good luck to all that are having same issue!
