2wire shows that there gateway router offers parental controls that must be pushed to users by att. Why does att not offer this on there routers? The parental controls they do offer are far to easy to circumvent, whereas the later allows control of the whole network witout having to install crap ware on each individual computer.
So att please let me know how I can get this software update for my 2wire gateway modem, I have included the website so you can see what I am talking about.

I would like to inform you that AT&T does not provide any technical assistance for 2wire parental control. In order to resolve this issue, it is recommended to visit http://www.2wire.com/ or you may also contact 2wire support number at 877-347-8680. They will help you and troubleshoot to their recommendation.

Agree, agree, agree! I've installed the both the older and the most recent at&t parental controls on the computers in my home and it drags the computer performance to all but a standstill. 2wire has a very simple and effective parental control system that stops things at the source...no computer software required. But it's not available to at&t subscribers. I've talked to 2wire, and they're not setup to offer/sell this software directly to consumers. 2wire sends me to at&t, and at&t sends me to 2wire. Typical. I've tried to configure my 2wire with the manual activation key, but the parental controls still disappears. Unfortunately, it's typical of at&t to turn something that should be simple into an bloated, ineffective and overly complicated disaster.

I have already spoken to 2WIRE and AT&T level 2 support. So don't waste your time talking to 2WIRE or AT&T Apparently it's AT&T who decided not to roll this feature to its based subscribers. It's a shame that the Parental Control feature in the 2WIRE is not being "pushed" to all AT&T 2WIRE modem/router home base users. The only way is to get a third party router while setting the 2WIRE to be in a "bridge" mode.
I wonder why 2WIRE developed and offered this wonderful Parental Control feature (Article 94 of 2WIRE.com Q&A) in the first place if it is not available to its users. I also wonder what's the main reason from AT&T not to offer this wonderful feature as I don't to go around and install 5 PCs in my home just to limit their access.
Any good reason AT&T?

This is ridiculous. They should offer us the 3rd party router for free then if AT&T wants to get rid of 2Wire's parental controls. I can only setup time restrictions on the net for the pc but for the gaming consoles and such its a struggle. I setup the parental control on the 360 but all he has to do pretty much is Google something like "how yo bypass xbox 360 parental controls". I'd rather I just set it up by MAC address as well. Not happy with the THDVR either, you can view up to 4 rooms but I have to keep going to my living room to play my shows.... awesome, I must as well go back to cable. I am currently looking fora new ISP that doesn't get rid of useful features, please come to my area soon other fiber ops ISP.

"Any good reason AT&T?"
It's been almost a year since this question was posted. Is AT & T reading this at all?
The AT & T parental control is so crappy. I might switch to Time Warner if nothing changes.

Not as well. We just switched over to the bundled Uverse DSL PHhone and have the 2wire modem. Prior to this I had a linksys and used the Cisco Network Magic app to monitor our home network (game consoles, smart phones, ipod touch, etc.). I was able to set up blocks for specific websites, on keywords and hours of use. I tried the parental controls from At&t but found them clunky. They only work on the main PC and not the networked devices (like the touch, smartphones, etc). I'm trying to find a work around so I can get my functions back, specifically being able to lock wifi access during the middle of the night.
anyone found anything that works? The router set up page is so minimalistic that it really offers nothing that makes a difference.
Also bumming that the Uverse doesn't offer time limits and time locking options. (Yes, I trust my kids but they are teenagers and a little extra reminder/help doesn't hurt.)

Is there still no response from ATT on this?
I want the 2wire parental controls. I will switch providers if I can not get this!

No offense, but the reply to "try ATT Smartcontrols" isn't really a response. You obviously don't use them yourself.
They don't provide the "control" that a good router would. Which I had, but won't work with the AT&T router. Like a previous poster I am looking to limit their access to our wifi network after certain times...which I had before - without having to install a bunch of junk on their devices (especially their touch's).
Just installing the software on my laptop has slowed it down.
