Is this SBC Global e-mail alert dated Saturday September 19, 2009, that says my e-mail account will be closed in 48 hours valid? I just got it this morning Tuesday September 21, 2009.

do you still have a copy of that email alert telling you abt the termination of your email account in 48 hours? you may post it here so we can try to check what it meant or why your email will be closed.

it may or may not be a valid email alert. it actually depends on the reason why it will suddenly close your email account.

has there been any change with your email service lately? billing issues? spam (excessive outgoing mail activity) issues?

I got the same email this morning. It is below: Update Your SBC GLOBAL Email Now. Dear SBC GLOBAL Email Owner, This message is from SBC GLOBAL messaging center to all SBC GLOBAL Email owners. We are currently upgrading our data base and e-mail center. We are deleting all unused SBC GLOBAL email to create more space for new one.To prevent your account from closing you will have to update it below so that we will know that it's a present used account. However SBC GLOBAL has been receiving complaints from our customers for unauthorised use of the SBC GLOBAL Email. As a result we are making an extra security check on all of our Customers mailbox in order to protect their information from theft and fraud. Warning!!! Email owner that refuses to update his or her Email,within two days of receiving this warning will lose his or her Email permanently. You are require to send us the below information via : Requested Information Email Username : .......... ..... Email Password : ................ Date of Birth : ................ Country or Territory : .......... Thanks for your co-operation

the email you posted above is a phishing/scam email. DO NOT reply or provide any account-specific information to that email.

tons of these kinds of phishing/scam emails have been circulating, trying to trick users of providing their email ID, pword and other specific info.

to report this scam, just forward the email you received to the address below:

after that, make sure to delete the email.
