DNS issue?

i ping horrible to just about anything, bandwidth is fine though.

 pinging to a central based ventrilo server

and then a friend of mine that lives in a nearby neighborhood pinging to the same server

also pinging to google i encounter the same problem

the router that is affecting me most is the

which comes up as AT&T WorldNet Services

i have tried opendns as well as dns advantage.

if anyone knows a possible workaround that would be great.

This is not a DNS issue.  This is most likely just a difference in how U-Verse internet transport is handled vs. cable or standard DSL.  In DSL terms, U-Verse uses the "interleaved" profile, while standard DSL generally uses the "fast" profile.  This accounts for the increased ping times that you see with U-Verse's service.

yes i understand it is interleaved, but the ping spike isnt until the 5th hop.

and this occured recently, hasnt always been like this, for me atleast.

It is possible there is something wrong with that particular hop.  You can report it to technical support (get to Tier 2, Tier 1 will not be able to help), and they should be able to open a ticket and forward it to their network personnel.  However, don't hold your breath that anything will get done soon.

yeah i called and got patched through tier 2,

though they said they are having problems remotely accessing gateways so i have to wait
