i ping horrible to just about anything, bandwidth is fine though.

pinging to a central based ventrilo server

and then a friend of mine that lives in a nearby neighborhood pinging to the same server

<a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i42.tinypic.com/1586p83.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

also pinging to google i encounter the same problem

 <a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i43.tinypic.com/2rdgjv9.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

the router that is affecting me most is the 12.83.63.133

which comes up as AT&T WorldNet Services

i have tried opendns as well as dns advantage.

if anyone knows a possible workaround that would be great.

Re: DNS issue?

This is not a DNS issue.  This is most likely just a difference in how U-Verse internet transport is handled vs. cable or standard DSL.  In DSL terms, U-Verse uses the "interleaved" profile, while standard DSL generally uses the "fast" profile.  This accounts for the increased ping times that you see with U-Verse's service.

Re: DNS issue?

yes i understand it is interleaved, but the ping spike isnt until the 5th hop.

and this occured recently, hasnt always been like this, for me atleast.

Re: DNS issue?

It is possible there is something wrong with that particular hop.  You can report it to technical support (get to Tier 2, Tier 1 will not be able to help), and they should be able to open a ticket and forward it to their network personnel.  However, don't hold your breath that anything will get done soon.
