DIRECTV NOW Login Help

Hello DIRECTV NOW Community!

We’ve had a few customers talking about having issues logging into their new service. Don’t fret! We’ve got you covered!

 

Works for the following:

  1. Not able to login
  2. No confirmation email of sign-up
  3. Not receiving password reset email

 

Why is the issue occurring?

During sign-up, many customers are accidentally entering the wrong email into their browsers/devices. When this happens, you will not be able to login to your profile, reset your password, or receive confirmation of services.

When this occurs, support is unable to resolve this issue as we do not know which email you used to sign up and thus will be unable to locate your account.

 

Chrome

  1. Open the Options Dropdown
  2. Select Settings
  3. Click Show advanced settings…
  4. Select Manage Passwords

Locate directvnow.com and look for the stored email

Internet Explorer

  1. Select the Settings gear
  2. Click Internet Options
  3. Select the Content tab, then select Settings
  4. Choose Manage Passwords

Locate https:directvnow.com/ and look for the stored email

iOS Safari

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Tap on Safari
  3. Select Passwords (Note: You may need to enter in your password for your device)
  4. Locate com and look for the stored email

I registered in store yesterday.  Got home but never got an email and not able to log into my Directv Now though I could get into my att.net email.  I could not get the chat service either.  I tried to go through the sign up chat  just to talk to someone and see if they had contact phone numbers.  Instead they told me to call the account management that will be sending out the appletv on order since it will show the email address associated with the order. They are only available work hours mon-fri.  nice. 

I'm going to go back to the AT&T store to see if they can cancel my sign up from yesterday then sign me up new again.  this time I hope to wait in store for the confirmations.

I still cant login, and ots still telling me that my email is incorrect...

when i tried to log into directv now it automatically closed my chat support window and I was unable to let the specialist know I still had issues.  I was unable to get an email transcript of our chat. Prior to the help chat I was in an AT&T store and used an IPAD to sign into my DirectvNow acct using the email I had used to set up the service although it had been unrecognized the previous 24 hours since sign up.    Although it worked in the store it was still unrecognized on my iphone.  I had still never received any confirmation email regarding my sign up activation although my credit card had been charged Saturday evening. Just then the Specialist help chat connected. The specialist had told me my account was set to an email I had not ever used so I thought it had somehow been linked wrong.  After verifying my identity using my phone #, last 4 of my CC# etc, we agreed to change my email address to a different one of my choosing.
for the next six hours I was still not able to log into Directvnow using either email address although I had received emails in BOTH email accounts notifying me of my account updates. 
at 11pm cst I was able to log into DirectvNow on appletv usingmy original email and was also able to log into directvnow.com/accounts using the same.  Although the login now works it does not indicate I have an active account selected, only offering the free 7 day trial and asking to select a package and a credit card. 
So although I've gotten an email for directvnow to my UPDATED email inbox, I cannot log into directvnow using that email.    The old email appears not to have been changed and is still linked to my account.    I have been charged $105 for a 3 months prepay AppleTV and 100 channel offer.

I get  "40403 : Are you sure you entered the correct email? Please try again."  also.  It worked for the first few days, but devices that don't have the login cached are no longer able to log in.  Chat is unavailable, and I've received no response on twitter either.

i finally got thru on the chat, and it turns out that the login system has trouble with emails that have special characters like - and_ (dashes and underscores).  i had the person on the chat change my email to one without special characters and all is well again.

Same issue.  Cant get a reset link.  Was on hold for an hour after i was passed around to three people. Already paid for 3 months in advance.  Haven't recieved an email stating service has started.  Possible a wrong email.  Nobody seems to know how to fix.

I also am having trouble logging in, after a day or two of success.

 

It claims my password is now "too long" (it didn't change).

 

I click on the link to reset the apparently bad password. No e-mail ever arrives. I started this process on Sunday.

 

I verified that my e-mail is the same that I used to sign up, by double-checking it with the welcome e-mail I got from DirecTV Now.

 

My e-mail address has no funny characters - all lowercase alpha with one number.

 

I've double-checked my spam / junk folders - nothing in there from DirecTV.

 

The chat help is either "too busy" or wants me to log in - hah!

 

The only way I can see to contact help is via Twitter DM, which I've done.

 

Would like to be able to use this - I prepaid for 3 months as part of the promo. I expect some growing pains, but there appear to be a lot of unnecessary roadblocks to getting this resolved!

This was a horable experience with your Customer Service mainly because they have no alswers to resolve my problems, and the BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THAT THEY CAN NOT ELEVATE MY ISSUE TO 2ND LEVEL SUPPORT WHERE MY ACCOUNT CAN BE PERSONALLY LOOKED AT.  HOW CAN I MANAGE MY ACCOUNT OR GET OTHER CHAT OPERATORS THAT CAN HELP ME IF I can not sign in first... That is my only problem..I need a phone number of someone to call to solve this problem with my account or to CANCEL my account.  I have contacted your medeocre chat help service every day for the last 4 days and there is still no help in sight. 

 

I have had a 7 day trial where these last 4 days have been terrible experiences.  I could only sign on and watch the Direct TV NOW on the 1st day only...

 My email address has a dash (-) in its name.. This is a valid internet email name... maybe it is related to my problems.. I can not even get a chat operator that can look at my account yet.. That would be a bonus just to see someone that can personally look at my account.

i have a similar issue. my email address has a plus on the LHS (so it looks like a+b@gmail.com) ... this was good enough to sign up, and good enough for directv now to send me email today encouraging me to sign in, but i get a "40403 : Are you sure you entered the correct email? Please try again." error when i try to sign in. i assure you my email address is correct.

My email address has a dash (-) in it.. It may be related to the same
issues. I get the same error message as you and have exactly the same
symptoms as you.

This system is a disaster.  I cannot chat with account support because my email is not recognized (uses a + symbol) and I cannot log in to connect with them.  I can only chat with non-customer support who cannot access my account. 

 

I've used twitter and they point me to chat / the forums despite me saying that this is not a viable path.  I have wasted hours on this. 

 

Worst. customer. support. experience. ever.

I was finally able to sign-in to a different Chat from a help page. You have
to answer that you are a DIRECTV NOW
subscriber to get a
different Chat operator, then when you answer YES, it will say to first sign
in (but that was my problem anyway), but I did sign-in and got the error
message again but somehow that Other Chat access came up.

Then that operator changed my email that I used to a different one that did
not have a dash(-) in the email name even thought that is a legal Internet
Character. Then next I had to use the link to change my password... I got a
different error there, but I used my new password anyway (even though it
said it did not work to update it) ... and it actually worked ok.. and I
finally got in after 5 days of trying ...

At a Minimum they should have also have had an 800 number to call to cancel
an account or change an account if this scenario existed where someone could
not sign on to their account. This was a very poor implementation by the
DirectTV Now Project Manager...

I spent an hour on a chat last night with the same problem. Worked fine for 3+ days then all of a sudden, i have an invalid email address. I have a '-' in the domain name portion of the account. The Chat person actually said I must be using the wrong email address. when I pointed out I worked in IT and also IT Security, and I understood how passwords worked etc, and further pointed out that I could request a password recovery (that was emailed to my account with the '-' in it) BUT could not successfully change the password. She was lost. She basically gave up, thanked me for subscribing and vanished... I'm very upset. I did take the wise move of signing up using Paypal, so I've now cancelled my paypal authorization, so even if DTVNow tries to bill me, they cant... 

 

I will re-instate if SOMEONE CAN PLEASE HELP ME FIX MY ACCOUNT.

Yup, same situation here too except I don't have a "-" in the domain.  I'm IT and IT security, all of a sudden this morning (after about 3 days) my login didn't work (it was saved) on all of my devices.  Glad I used paypal too.  I've also requested a password reset but not getting emails for it....and I know the email address is correct, and I checked my spam folder.  I'm guessing they're having issues....it's new...hope they weren't hacked and then someone changed our emails or passwords 🙂
