Where is all my data going on my shared family phone lines?
My family loves facetime. They keep telling me it is free because it's over wi-fy. Howevere, I believe that may be untrue. Is there a way of telling what the data is being used for?
Thanks for your time... who every you are!

To start with, you can use the myATT app, or the Online Account page to see which phone on the shared plan is using the majority of the data. Next, you go to that phone and look at it's interface to see what applications on that phone are using the data. I know that iPhones allow you to see which apps are using the most data through their Settings app. I believe that Android phones have a similar capability.
What is most likely happening is that someone is using their phone to stream music form the web, and the phone is entering a sleep mode where it is turnign off the wifi to conserver battery, so then suddenly all internet access for the streaming music is using cellular data, even though they phone is in your home where wifi is available. I know that the iPhone will do this and many Android phones will also do this too. In most cases, the simple solution is to connect an external power source when at home, then the phones tend to not turn off the wifi, and it will not need to use the cellular data then.
