went to a legit att store and was scammed by the greasy loser that sold my girlfriend and I phones

went to the local att store to add my gf to my plan and to get new phones. the guy there set me up with firstnet ( for being a hospital employee) and told me that for signing up i could get a watch.. i said no, he said even if its "totally free?". i said maybe and asked how it worked.. he said that for signing up with firstnet they are offering  watch totally free. I told him i was interested but only if i had to play literally 0 for it because i didnt want any extra bill and he confirmed it was not going to add to my bill. i have now had to make 3 payments on the watch because he signed me up for a plan that i am locked into for im guessing a year. this is a great way to get first line people to sign up for a plan that is supposed to help those people out, instead i was lied to and scammed out of my money and now im stuck with it? thanks for all your appreciation att and first net! my wallet sure dosent feel it. contacted att twice and firstnet twice and all times they pointed the finger at the other company.

those deals are billed and credited for 36 months so essentially they are free as long as you keep service for 36 months, discounts and promotions dont start until the 3rd or 4th billing cycle with make up credits for the first billing cycles im assuming you signed up with a 3rd party reseller and not at&t

no i signed up at an att store.. and when i contacted firstnet and att they didnt tell me anything about the promotion discount starting on any certain date.. just that i had a watch and that i am on a contract for it. In either case it does not matter as i said i want literally 0 extra money in payments and that was broken as soon as i got my first bill and had to pay for the watch...

not true you need to ask them, authorized retailers look no different than a corporate store

AT&T's website, at least for our area, is not current as to which Corporate Stores have been sold to a Retailer, and a lot of Retailers have not bothered to change the outside signage. They both look exactly the same only the Retail Store is not staffed by AT&T employees. You really have to ask when you go in to be sure. If you received any paperwork or receipt, it may be listed, in small print, that the store is an Authorized AT&T reseller of AT&T goods and services. If that's the case, you technically did business with them and not AT&T, who has no control over their business practices unfortunately.

Good luck. Authorized AT&T Retail Stores are quite often difficult to deal with, especially if some sort of refund or credit is demanded. Unfortunately,  credit requests will go to Billing or Loyalty without proper explanations and Billing/Loyalty will just kick it back.

Filing a BBB complaint against the Retail Store (you need to confirm for sure) and AT&T may help.

Okay there's some misunderstanding here. The watch may be free, but you are required to have service for 2 years in order to get the watch for free. Terminating that line of service will generate an early termination fee. Depending on how much the watch cost it may be cheaper to do that. The watch will work as a Bluetooth only device.

Hospital employees are not eligible for firstnet. Firstnet is for first responders.

Doctors nurses and physicians assistant are eligible for a 25% discount off of their service plan on the current Unlimited plans.
