Wanting to upgrade to the iPhone 12 pro

Hi, I currently am on a grandfathered unlimited plan with 4 phones on it, and only want to upgrade 1 of the phones to the iPhone 12 pro. I am going to pay for the new phone in full, but was wondering if the person that is getting the new phone would need to be on a different plan or would they be able to stay on the same plan?
