Want to get (Edited per community guidelines)ed over and lied too? Choose AT&T today!

I have five phones with AT&T and two of the phones are paid off and the other three were 75% paid off, I called to talk to a customer rep about upgrading my phones to an iPhone 14 Pro Max mind you we were already paying for an iPhone 12 Pro Max All three of them. And this wonderful good hearted human being suggested the trade up program. What they told me I was getting is an absolute 360 from what I am getting today so even though I was 75% done paying all three phones, I chose to do the trade up program to get the iPhone 14 Pro Max three of them turns out when I signed up to do the trade up program, they tell you you don’t owe anything else on your phones and you forfeit all the payments you’ve paid towards that phone you sign a new (Edited per community guidelines)ing contract going towards a more expensive phone but here’s the catch that they sold me on you get a $300 credit paid out in 3 to 6 months . Do you know I was in a customer with AT&T for over five years now and never once have I ever been told the true facts on what the trade up program is. And I was told my money would go towards the new phones that I was wanting to get when in reality AT&T pocket all your payments and you’re stuck with an even more expensive bill but oh wait, there’s more I have been given the runaround for three months spent over 10 hours on the phone with AT&T and never once did anyone tell me any of this information until finally I called back again today and this wonderful call rep with an actual good heart, he told me the truth about the trade up program, and when I asked him why I wasn’t aware of the conditions he said well they probably didn’t know the full Summary of what the trade up program included so if you would like to get (Edited per community guidelines)ed over time and time again, talk to a voice automated system that doesn’t ever (Edited per community guidelines)ing help you or deal with people that can barely speak English? choose AT&T today you will definitely regret it

All upgrade information is listed, in detail, on AT&T's website. It pays to read what AT&T has in writing before anything else.

Well when I TALK TO A (Edited per community guidelines)ING AT&T rep and they flat out LIE, I don’t think I should have to FACT CHECK an employee. Do you?

Not on AT&T's payroll at all. Read my sig line. I've just been around AT&T long enough to know how the game is played.

IDo you know I was in a customer with AT&T for over five years now and never once have I ever been told the true facts on what the trade up program is.

And yet you keep asking...

There are different options to trade in:

  • Next Up (you pay for the privilege trade in your phone after 18-35 months and they waive the rest of the payments).
  • Trading in your phone for the current 'value' (usually not very high value).
  • Trade in promotions (it's a promotion [think "sale"] but they're giving you a bonus on your trade in, but spreading the bonus out over 26 months).
#3 is my choice! I got $1,000 off by trading in a 4-year-old phone, no way I was getting $1,000 for that phone by selling it anywhere.

All of these options are documented on AT&T's site, you can actually save a copy for your records instead of dealing with (in your words) "people that can barely speak English".

What I don't get is why you keep asking them if you don't think they're giving you a straight answer?  Get the answer for yourself much faster by reading the web site.  Or, if you don't know how to google, come ask here in the community forum...

@003724Weleetka

You should fact check with any company. Otherwise anyone could promise you everything in the world and you will just eat it up be so naïve.

And before you fly off the handle again, I am not on their payroll either. Simply been a consumer for long enough not to blindly believe everything that is said. Even if known good person with the best of intentions, trust but verify is the safe way to go.

We're happy to help guide you in the right direction on how to trade your device with the Next Up Program, @003724Weleetka.

We're here for you, we understand your situation and would like to turn the experience around with AT&T for you.

Thank you, Ace or providing the information. With the Next Up Program you pay 36 monthly device payments, plus $6 per month for the Next Up option to trade in and upgrade early.

  • After you pay 50% of your smartphone’s retail price, along with the Next Up feature, you can trade it in and upgrade to something new.
  • The remaining installments for the old device will be waived off. The device must be sent back within 30 days after getting the new phone.
  • Next up program promotion will be applied to the new phone.

You can check more information here.

Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums.
