Untrained ATT sales representatives at stores

Hi,

Does anyone know if the ATT sales representatives that we see at stored like Fred Meyer are authorized and well trained on the plan and pricing.

I purchased 2 ATT lines from one of those agents at Fred Meyer in Washington.  He asked me about employer as he had some promotion for certain employers and teachers. When I told him that I work at Microsoft, he told that I can avail the best plan available. He said that I'll get 25% off on the monthly bill and also get unlimited premium for the price of unlimited extra (i.e. $65). And I should start seeing the discounts within 2-3 billing cycles. After 3 billing cycles I saw only 25% discount on my plan charges. But the plan rate shows as $75 per line (because it is 2 lines) instead of $65 as told by the agent. I called customer service to check if it would take some more billing cycles to show the discount, I was told there is no other discount. I can take either $10 off or 25% off, but not both. When I told about the agent's pricing they very rudely said that these agents are 3rd party sellers and it is not ATT's responsibility on what they said they may have a lack of proper training. If I want any discounts I should go back to the agents. The agents only show up at the Fred Meyer store few days in a couple of months.

I wanted to see if it has happened to anyone else or is it just me being fooled. What are my best options here?

Thank You,

AT&T does not staff independent stores.  They are staffed by either store employees or by the employees or contractors of third-party authorized resellers.  They are typically not well trained.  Even if well trained, they may decide to tell you what you want to hear.  They don't care whether AT&T gets a happy customer or not.  Once you're out the door and they get their commission, you cease to exist in their world.

Yes, this is true even if the guy was wearing a blue shirt with the AT&T logo.

Yes, this is true even if he had a badge that had the AT&T logo on it.

I would recommend that before you buy Cell service anywhere, but especially in a store like that, you check out the service's website and ensure that you understand the prices and the terms.

Good advice. That's definitely a lesson learnt. I regret moving away from my previous carrier and end up paying higher cost. Not to mention being locked in for 3 years unless I make full payment for the devices I took. I think I'll move back to my previous plan with T Mo.
