Unable to add a line due to DirectTV balance.
I waited on hold for over 30 minutes for a representative to tell me I can’t add a line to my AT&T account due to an unpaid DirectTV balance. I agreed to have an agent from DirectTV added to our call to discuss the matter, but was disconnected. I called DirectTV directly and was told I had a balance of over $900. When I signed up for DirectTV, I was quoted $45/month. My bill was more than double that. I chose to get rid of my DirectTV account. They charged me all kinds of fees for “breach of contract,” which I refused to pay because the bills were way more than what I was told they would be. This was 2 years ago and the balance has since been signed off to a collection agency. I do not understand why I can’t add a line to my AT&T account when I ultimately now “owe” the agency. I’ve been an AT&T customer for many, many years - since before they were AT&T. If I am unable to add a line to my account, I will be forced to take my business elsewhere.
