Presuming you have a postpaid plan, make sure you have the international pay per use feature. Without it, your phone might not work. You will pay international roaming rates on the cruise ship and in ports, except Mexico if your plan has Mexico roaming. International roaming rates can be quite high, especially for data. Highly suggest you turn data roaming off. You might also consider getting an international plan or a cruise ship plan if traveling on a supported cruise line.
Your choice whether you buy the ship's wifi. If your phone has wifi calling, it will work over the ship's wifi and there are not any roaming charges as long as you are connected to ATT's network.
