Trade In Shipped - Not received? Second time in a row AT&T is billing me for a phone I traded in
Hi,
For the second time in a row, I traded a phone in with AT&T and shipped using their shipping label.
For the second time in a row, they are telling me they are going to bill me for the phone that I shipped them in their label.
Luckily for me, I keep my tracking information.
On this latest time, I shipped using their tracking label on 9/27. On 9/29, per USPS it says it arrived at USPS regional facility in LA. It hasn't been updated since.
Now, I'm getting AT&T messages that they are going to bill me for the phone I shipped them (with their label) 3 weeks ago.
I'm concerned because this happened the last time I traded a phone in. I was billed $1,000 erroneously and they took 2 months and 5+ calls to resolve.
HELP!

From what you told us, AT&T hasn't received the phone back.
Since the last tracking information says it's still with USPS, that should be your first stop.

USPS confirmed that the item was last scanned on 9/29 at their Los Angeles Distribution Center. They have no record of additional scans after that point. They do not know if the item left that facility.
(Checked with local post office where it was mailed)
It was part of Newgistics Smart Returns which I understand is contracted by AT&T to handle electronic returns.

Try checking the Newgistics tracking number at http://tracking.newgistics.com/ I went back into my email to find the prepaid shipping label that AT&T sent me and used the number from the label. It showed more detailed tracking information than the USPS website, because after Newgistics (eventually) picks up the package from the Postal Service, it doesn't seem that the USPS tracking info gets updated at all.

Good advice, however Newgistics tracking matches USPS in that the item is sitting in Los Angeles USPS distribution center.
There is more information in general, but same outcome.
