Sending Notice to AT&T after 15 years of service
I just moved my daughter's line to my account and was charged an activation fee. Get this... The line was already activated. I have been with AT&T for more than 15 years and have been complaining about tactics such as this and the complete lack of customer service. This is just giving notice that today was the straw that broke the camels back. Too many other good offers out there to deals with this kind of blatant over the top fees just to siphon money from your clients. Verizon here I come!!

1. Att may never see this, it’s on a customer populated forum.
2. The charge for transfer of billing is $18. That’s not activation fee.
3. Verizon fees are as much or more. I just move my line to prepaid and was charged $40 activation fee... on prepaid. ATT does not charge activation on prepaid.

You can call or chat with AT&T representatives. Maybe that was a billng mistake. As far as I know you shouldn't be charged with that fee - it's no longer due when a transfer of billing responsability takes place. If your daughter's line was on another AT&T account it shouldn't be charged with the activation fee. If it comes from another carrier, then it should. Is there anything else that probably could be the reason for the fee, such as the line was suspended, non-payment?
