Hey there kellytang, we can help you understand why you're still not able to use your data after making your payment.

Even though you made your payment early, the data will not reset until your new billing cycle starts. For example, if the billing cycle starts over again on the 15th, that's when you'll be able to use your data again.

If you have any other questions, let us know.

Is there some way (any plan options) that I can choose to use my data whenever I want after paying?

Hey there, kellytang!

We recommend that you try resolving your experience by powering your device off for 1-2 minutes then back on.

If you're still unable to use your data, reach back out and let us know what kind of device you're using to access your data and the kind of AT&T plan you have (Wireless, Internet, TV, etc.) so that we can further investigate.

The details you provide will give us an idea about what is going on so that we can get you a definite resolution.

Looking forward to your reply.

I'm using an apple 14 and I'm using a $40 monthly plan. I'm also using a Chinese phone card attached to my phone. But I turned off the options to use the Chinese phone card's data. Don't know why it happened.

AtTHelp  should know this

In order to renew your plan early you have to select the change plan function, even though you are going to select the exact same $40 plan. Fortunately that plan does not have an auto pay discount so as long as you have paid enough to cover the plan plus tax, going through the change plan menu in your pay go online account should renew your data.  It will also change your 30-day cycle which will start as soon as your plan begins

Thank you for providing those details, kellytang!

If your experience with trying to use data on your phone is the same make sure to power cycle your device (power it off then power it on again) then test the results.

As @formerlyknownas already shared, under your current AT&T PREPAID $40 plan, your data should renew even though you renewed early and if you paid through the update your AT&T PREPAID plan:

Here’s how to change your plan:

  1. Go to att.com/myprepaid.
  2. At the top of the page, select Plans.
  3. Find the data only plan you’d like to move to. Next to the rate plan you’d like to use, select Change to this plan (data only plans include Tablet & Hotspot).
  4. Follow the prompts to change your plan.

Important: Payment for the new plan will be due immediately. As such, we suggest making the change at the end of your plan cycle as your 30-day cycle will start as soon as your plan begins.

Also, if you use your monthly rate of 15GB of high-speed data speeds are reduced to 128Kbps. When additional data is needed it can be purchased. See the details under Data add-ons at Add or change AT&T PREPAID add-ons.

Let us know how this goes.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.
