Overage issue and notification

I've been an AT&T customer since 2005.  I have a 40gig data plan because I'm running a trading platform on it that needs high speed data and the possibility of a slowdown would mean I couldn't trade.  I used to be able to rely on receiving a 90% warning of exceeding my 40gig plan but that didn't happen this month.

I called AT&T and was told by the first contact that it was because I used the data so fast the system didn't have time to notify me until I was over 40gb.  Then when I suggested that the way to remedy that was to go with an Unlimited Plan from AT&T and get an Unlimited Plan from T-Mobile and not have to worry about it.  I was then transferred to Customer Loyalty and they suggested that AT&T was going to discontinue the 90% warning text and so I should probably begin checking my account daily after the 75% warning.

So, I will probably move from my 40gb plan to an unlimited and take the savings and get an Unlimited from T-Mobile.  A suggestion if you don't mind... don't make things more challenging for your customers, make them more user-friendly.  It takes some effort to make a customer of 14 years want to go to a competitor.  But, job well done!

@RCG-922
The unlimited extra plan does not reprioritize until 50 gigs.   Only 15 gigs is hotspot however.

price per line is far less than the 40 gig plan.
Also coming soon is ‘Unlimited Elite’ with 100 gig

@RCG-922, if trading is so key to your lifestyle, why does it matter if you get the warning? Would you change anything you do? If so, why not go with an unlimited plan with AT&T?

as stated the unlimited plan could slow at something like 22g where as the 40g should not.  so that 18g of data that permits me to trade.  As to why the warning would be nice, I do other things like read news, watch sports clips, etc.  If I get a warning before the end of the month, then I stop those activities.  The Unlimited Plan does absolutely NOTHING to solve the issue.  A warning DOES.

That's crazy, I spoke with AT&T on the phone about this and twice they confirmed that "After 22GB, AT&T may slow speeds when the network is busy."  But I just followed the link you provided and found the AT&T Unlimited Extra plan for $40 p/mo and it says, "After 50GB, AT&T may slow speeds when the network is busy."  Thank you!  I am having trouble understanding why AT&T didn't seem to know this.

@RCG-922  The plan is exact one week old.  They should know about it.  The single line plan is not $40.  But your probably paying way more than $75 fir the 40 gig plan.

AT&T UNLIMITED EXTRASM PLAN:  Avail. to consumers only. Monthly plan charge ($80) & monthly per-device access charges ($45 phone; $20 tablet, camera or Connected Car; $25 for Harman Spark; and $10 wearable) apply. AUTOPAY & PAPERLESS BILL DISCOUNT: Monthly discount off plan charge ($10 per phone line) when active & enrolled in both. Discount starts w/in 2 bill cycles. Pay full plan cost (up to $80/mo.) plus per device access charges until discount starts. PHONE LINE DISCOUNT: Monthly discount of $40 (1 phone line), $20 (2 phone lines), $35 (3 phone lines), $60 (4 phone lines), and $80 (5 or more phone lines) applied to your plan charge

   1 line,  80+45-10-40 = $75

   2 lines,  80+45+45-10-10-20 = $130

   3 lines,  80+45+45+45-10-10-10-35 = $150

   4 lines,  80+45+45+45+45-10-10-10-10-60 = $160

   5 lines,  80+45+45+45+45+45 - 10-10-10-10-10-80 = $175.
