New Account created in error by AT&T but I'm charged for it when my phones were already covered under the original account when purchased.
I have tried more than 6 times to resolve a billing issue that was created in error by AT&T. Now I'm being billed by a collection agency to collect on a balance of $92.22. I was told and received by AT&T reps multiple times that the issue was resolved.
Account XXXXXXX2768 was created in error and the charges were not valid. I even phone conferenced with an AT&T rep and the collection agency to resolve. Yet today, again, I have received an email from the collection agency indicating that I still owe the fee because of the contract that I signed when I first purchased phones and services with AT&T years ago.
The AT&T reps admitted they created the account in error and placed notes in their system to the effect. I have spoken with multiple departments including customer care, fraud, collections, billing, and mobility on numerous times.
I should not have to pay almost a hundred dollars for an error that was created internally by AT&T.
I will keep pursuing this issue until it's resolved to my satisfaction and I don't receive any more collection notices.
If the strategy is to wear a customer down until they capitulate and pay money for something they didn't order, request or use, then it's not working with me. Buyer BEWARE!!!!

So what was the outcome of the joint call with ATT and the collection agency? If ATT already told them the debt is invalid, seems your issue is with the collection agency. ATT has no control over them. File a BBB complaint.
