Modifying account - ??best to do in store or online

Plan to add a phone to my existing family acct.  Is it better to do this online or at a store?

For a new AT&T device

Before you begin

  • If you have an installment plan, make sure you meet your plan’s eligibility requirements before trading in your smartphone. Learn about trade-in requirements
  • If you choose a 5G phone but aren't on an AT&T Unlimited Your Way plan, switch to an unlimited plan where all plans have 5G access.1 View unlimited plans
  • If you want to transfer your number from another provider, see if it’s eligible to transfer. Wireless numbers take one to five days to transfer.

You can easily do it online within your account, and have the SIM card shipped to you. Usually will arrive in less than 48 hours. If you are also purchasing a phone, especially an iPhone, it can be activated with the e-sim once received, no SIM card required.
