I agreed to a trade-in phone credit & have changed my mind. Can I cancel?
I agreed to trading in the old phones on my account for new ones. The agreement was I would get $1000 toward the new phones making 2 of them essentially free and the 3rd a minimal price. However instead of a straight trade in AT&T is charging me for the phones monthly & “offsetting” the charge with a credit payment. It’s frustrating and confusing. Can I get out of this agreement and how? Advice please!

No, that is not possible. The only way you would get a lump sum for a trade in is if it is valued at less than $35 and doesn’t qualify for the trade in credits.

What exactly do you mean by get out of the agreement? You have 14 days to return phones, once past that you are obligated to pay for them. If you have already traded in the old phones, you can’t get them back. Just FYI, that is how every carrier does trade in promotions and the way ATT has been doing phone promotions for years.

If you haven't already sent in the phones, you are under no obligation to. You can simply keep them, or sell them yourself and pay the full price of the new phones monthly, or pay them off in full.

My question is: how do I get the balance of my trade applied as a lump sum & pay any further balance owed so my monthly bill reflects only charges for the wireless service. Is it possible and if so, how?

@GLIMMERMAN76 your answer is snarky unnecessary & unhelpful.
@sandblaster thank you. @MicCheck thank you.

Maybe but thinking they are giving it to you in a lump sum after you seen the 36 months is a pipe dream. There is always a catch when dealing with carriers.

I went into an att store w an iPhone 12 in November said 1000 dollar credit towards a 13. Looking at my bill I got zero credit and being charged 1100 over 36 months according to my bill. I’m beyond (Edited per community guidelines) and going to the store this weekend.

Did you read the fine print? Did you trade in a phone that qualified for the promotion? Are you on an unlimited data plan which is required to participate in the promotion? How or where did you complete your trade in?
And why have you waited 9 months?
