How to Unlock SIM for AT&T Phone

I'm trying to insert a different SIM Card for my AT&T Phone because I am overseas; however, my iPhone states that the SIM card is not supported by the phone, so I am assuming AT&T has locked it.

I'm attempting to unlock the phone, but it states that I have to pay for the rest of the installment plan of my phone. The problem is I can't even log in to my account to pay for it. Is there anything I can do? This is time-sensitive because my new SIM will expire in the next couple of days, and it even states that once I pay I may still have to wait 2 days until I am able to even "attempt" unlocking the phone.

Good morning @

Allow us to provide the answers on Device Unlock Requirements!

Please know that if your device has an unpaid installment balance, this would make your cellphone ineligible to be unlocked as stated in the highlighted article.

As for the non-AT&T SIM card not supported, you may need to contact your current wireless carrier for additional troubleshooting.

If you're currently overseas and require further help regarding your device unlock, please contact out international support team:

AT&T postpaid: +1.314.925.6925 available 24/7

AT&T Prepaid: +1.408.962.1025 available 24/7

We hope this helps.

Access is purposely blocked.  Call at&t

(Free travel number would be in your AT&T service numbers list.)

Unfortunately, even after paying off the phone, you may need to wait longer than 2 days to get it unlocked. It often takes a week or longer for the unlock portal to update after paying off a phone.
