High data usage listed on AT&T data logs but onboard phone monitor shows different

Over the past few days my account has seen a dramatic increase in data usage despite being connect to WIFI. I checked the data log on the AT&T account site and it states I had used over 30gbs of data during the last billing cycle on 1 of 3 devices. However when I check the device's onboard "Data Usage" numbers it lists less than 2gbs of data usage. Oddly all of the high data usage (over 1gbs) shows during early morning when either home on WIFI or while my family is asleep. The end result is around $160 of overage charges within the last 3 days. Any thoughts?

If the records on the phone prove less data was used, contact At&t.  Taking the phone into At&t company store would probably be the most helpful.

Consider new SIM cards.  Often that fixes the problem.

If you don't get a positive response from At&t, file a free FCC complaint online.
