Going Abroad For 6-8 Months

I currently have AT&T as my wireless provider. I have four lines (me, wife and two kids). Me, wife and one kid will be going abroad to Dubai for 6-8months for work and older kid will remain in US in college. I currently pay ~$200 per month and don’t want to rack up another $200 per month for the $10 per day International day plan ($10 per day for the first line and $5 per day for each additional line capped at day 10).

I cannot port my number because I’m on a 36 month promo where I pay $30 for the phone but get a $30 credit to offset (special during Xmas).

I want to keep our US numbers (we’ve had them for 10+ years) and as stated the 4th line needs to remain active for my daughter who will stay behind in the US for college. Is there another option that I’m unaware of to keep our current numbers, avoid the $10 per day international day plan and use our phones in Dubai without having to put on airplane mode and use WiFi only?

Unfortunately if your phones are carrier locked, you would not be able to use them with another service provider.

If your phones are receiving a promotional credit because you traded in a phone in order to get those credits you may be able to pay off the remaining installments, keep your credits, and unlock your phones.

If you are receiving Bill credits against your phone installment for any other reason, like a one of the no trade-in required deals, you will not be able to pay off your phone without losing the bill credits.

How much does it cost to purchase cellular service in Dubai for 3 phones?  How close to being equivalent to $200 American?

Thank you for the reply and insight. Yes, it was the past Christmas promo for no trade-in required. So sounds like I can’t pay off early without losing the bill credits. I will check into the cost to purchase cellular service in Dubai for 3 phones and compare that against the cost of incurring the $10 per day international plan for 3 phones.
