Free phone promo not honored

I added a new phone line upon the free phone promotion on iPhone 8 64GB in early October 2019 via AT&T app. After 3 months when credit starts to kick in, the third bill only shows $10 credit instead of an amount equaling to the monthly installment of $15 on the phone. I called customer service and they said the day I added the line, there was no such promotion but a different one. I was arguing that was not correct because the free phone promo was the reason why I wanted to add a new line. Claiming that after verifying the promos in the past, they did not honor that promo. I regret that I deleted the confirmation email (who wants to keep it a few months after the activation???). I think there was something wrong in their system but the customer service agents never want to accept that. I've been their customer for more than 13 years but this is the first time I feel like I was lied and cheated by AT&T.

Don't know what to tell you but through August September October and probably up till now the deal for adding a new line and getting a free iPhone 7 or iPhone 8 have varied. And indeed some of them were for $5 a month for the iPhone 8

I have not followed their promotions over time but at the time I added the line, it clearly showed an iPhone 8 would be free after monthly credits for 30 months with the total value of $450. The confirmation email showed that info, too. I deleted the email but could not have it recovered now.

Same thing happened to me except it was last month with 2 Samsungs. Just recieved online bill with new charges on it. Called customer service and they said there is nothing they could do and that I would have to go back to the ATT store where the salesman offered the promo and deal with them. I've been with ATT for many years as well and this is the first time I've been straight up lied to.
