Fraudulent use of my checking account for an ACH to ATT
My checkbook is not missing. My debit card was not used. The only explanation that I can think of is that someone that I wrote a check to inadvertently left the check information exposed. Someone used the account #, Routing# and my name and address to pay ATT for something for almost $300. My bank doesn't even have an online option to address this. I am NOT an ATT customer. I do have the name of the person and I have filed a report with the FTC. Any help on whom to contact at ATT would be appreciated. I will also call my bank on Monday, when they are open.

If you are expecting a refund from AT&T, that's not how it works. Your bank will be the one to credit the amount back to your account.

You may want to change your checking account number since someone has used the info for fraudulent use and they may try this again.

Yup. This has nothing to do with AT&T who is also a victim of theft. Deal with this entirely with your bank. By the way checks can be washed, and the account number and information stolen very easily. Do not use checks, do not mail checks.
Someone in a town next to mine sent out their mortgage check, put it in an envelope and put it in the mailbox and put the flag up the night before their mail was to get picked up. Unfortunately overnight a thief stole their mail washed the check and wrote out the check for $65,000 and was able to cash it..
This could have been prevented if they had arranged to pay their mortgage online.

The exact same thing happened to my brother-in-law, though in his case it wasn’t one big withdrawal, it was a number of small ones. He didn’t know his check had been stolen until he got a late payment notice from his mortgager. That’s when he discovered the withdrawals from his checking account.

Horrible. It's such a feeling of violation.
I only pay my property tax by check, hand delivered. My house and cars are paid off. Everything else is EFT

I write a check to my yard guy and my hairdresser. That's it.

If I have a bill that can not use EFT, still have the bank mail a paper check and they pay for postage.

I do that for my propane tank rental each year. And did pay one tax bill this way because I was away when it was due
I still cannot believe our crooked town charges a fee if you pay online. But there is no fee if you go and stand in line and take up their employees time to pay in person. 🤷🏼♀️

I pay my guy in cash.
I do PayPal or venmo also (as a money transfer).
Cash is still king
