False lies about promotion deals on the iPhone SE for $5.00 a month

Uh I wanna talk about your phone installment plan on the iPhone SE 2020 that I had got about 5 months ago, why online does it says that it would be $5.00 per months for 30 months via contract as I feel like it is a false advertise of it, every since I got it in June, it is not no dang $5.00 at all as I am being charged a whopping $13 and change per month for that phone, yall do not know how to give the right promotion deals of what phones suppose to be per month when it is a lie instead of the truth, I regret of getting that small phone, and I be glad when contract is over so I can be free of contract since the promotion deals be nothing but made up lies instead of the dang truth of whatever it says a small promotion price will be for 30 months, AT&T needs to get their life together, get a grip, get a life, and with that being said, I am still having to pay on that phone as it is damaged from falling and gave me a blanked out screen and I did not have no insurance on it to be paying monthly cause I would not like to have to pay a arm and a leg when on insurance just to get it fixed so I am now having to use a AT&T Prepaid phone in place of that iPhone SE 2020 that I no longer have in possession that got damaged by falling down to still have to pay on when I no longer have it. Why do yall tell dang lies of promotion deals when it be nothing but false lies, even a representative told me that after about 3 months of having to pay that $13 and change that I should start then having to pay nothing but $5 and that was a big lie from the get go that I do not appreciate, I hate a contract anyway when it does not help build my credit up, I'll go with no contract from now on out regardless of how good a deal on phones may be when it is nothing but a dang lie

You have no contract hasn’t been contracts in 5 years and it’s no fault of At&t that your phone broke.

Grammar 😖.

The phone deals published have requirements.   Like installments for 30 months and unlimited data plans, new service, and on time payments, and no false churn (canceling a line and adding a new line to meet the new line requirement)

Like this one

You have to read the requirements and meet them to get the deal price of $1 a month.
AT&T didn’t offer deals to existing customers till August, so 5 months ago, you had to be a new customer to AT&T service on unlimited data plan to get the deal.

@Heinnr

this is a customer populated forum not customer support.

there is not going to be a solution through this forum.

if you met all the requirements for a phone promotion and after four months are still not receiving credits against your installment, then you need to contact AT&T directly by phone or by chat.

AT&T full of bull crap here it go 3 to 4 days I been messaging them and not one dang person been nice enough to respond back, I know as a fact I met the requirements of unlimited data plans and new line cause nobody but me on my own account and no other lines, contracts are no fun at all regardless of the phone deals that be going on. Cricket Wireless is way better than this, why should I join Cricket! No hidden fees like dang AT&T, No annual contracts, reliable nationwide network, no surprises-get a low cost plan from the start, the got dang fine print says requires new service of $5 per month, under see offer details it says this as plain James. Credits start within 3 bills.  And I have been paying my dang bills on time I know for a fact so no one can't sit up there and tell me that I haven't been paying on time

FYI, Cricket is owned by AT&T. It is a prepaid service. All phones must be paid in full when purchased. Uses AT&T towers only, will not roam on partner towers.

This is a user to user forum. I am a user, just like almost everyone else on the site.

1. AT&T owns Cricket.

2. Are you receiving credits? You’ll be charged every month, but will receive credits to offset a portion of that cheatgrass.

3.  Right next to the comma key you are so in love with is the period key. If you use that from time to time your posts will be more readable.

@blove40

Every single carrier says "we don't tie you with long service contracts.

Riiiiight.

They don't, and neither does At&t.

All carrier use 0% interest installment loans, which can be paid off if you don't want to stay with the service provider anymore and then you can go where you choose.

You have a LOAN  not a 2 year service contract.

If you want to switch to Cricket then go ahead and do so. Just pay off the phone, and switch your phone number over. If you were going to use Cricket you would have had to pay for the phone in full upfront anyway.

As a customer of AT&T for 25 years (including when it was Cingular and Bell South), I stumbled on this thread purely by accident while waiting for the call center to open up so I can finally cancel my account with AT&T. I also cancelled my DirecTV service after 20 years just 2 weeks ago because AT&T ruined it when they purchased it.  Why do I bring this up?  They have repeatedly used vague and misleading language on plans, requirements, terms, etc. over the last few years, while raising prices and charging non-required fees on wireless bills to subsidize their shady business practices.

The fact that I see two responses in particular in this thread, one from MicCheck and two from Constructive, that included rude and unnecessary comments directed at the OP, is further evidence of the arrogant and unprofessional culture that is associated with AT&T.  There was absolutely no reason to criticize the OP's grammar or sound like such an elitist snob/bully (MicCheck).  The fact that you so prominently boast of your "Award for Community Excellence" in your signature and contribute such rude comments shows how worthless that recognition is.  I tried to flag your post and was not surprised to see that there was not an option immediately associated with your comment.  This is just another example of there is no accountability for rude behavior with this company, even for unhelpful contributors as yourself.

As for Constructive's comments, they weren't as bad as MicCheck's, but they were rude and inappropriate just the same.  Seeing that you are an actual employee of the company, I am certain you feel perfectly justified in using this tone with customers when you are on the clock, and that illustrates the plausibility of blove40's claim of deceptive practices.

The only redeeming aspect of this thread is lizdance40's comments that take a neutral approach at trying to offer information and assistance to the OP.  In fact, over the years I have visited these community forums many times, and I have seen numerous examples where the ONLY helpful responses have come from lizdance40.  I would strongly suggest that the other two bully contributors I mentioned immediately start modeling their attitude, comments, and online behavior identical to lizdance40.

Finally, I want to tell blove40 to keep detailed notes and screen grabs of phone conversations and community comments for your records.  AT&T is very good at intimidating customers, even long-term loyal ones like myself, and I have found that it helps give you a tiny bit of leverage sometimes when you are disputing something with this company, and it just may be enough to prevail.  It's unfortunate that respect and civility have almost disappeared in this country, even when it is something as basic as asking for help in a community forum.  Even though I am a complete stranger, I understand your frustration with AT&T, but please ignore the other two "experts" here and consider what lizdance40 has suggested.  I hope you have a better day after reading my post, and that you ultimately get some form of resolution to your issue as quickly as possible.  Good luck!

Flagrantly improper use of spelling, grammar, and punctuation make posts hard to read and make it harder for us to offer help.

In many cases, the answer to “why am I being charged for my free phone” questions is for the customer to look for the credits, so I’m not sure why do don’t find that response helpful.

@coastalhues You are absolutely wrong in your observations. First off, any ATT employee here is here as a customer on their own time. The particular customer you insulted climbs poles for a living. Second, this forum is moderated and inappropriate comments are regularly called out or edited. There was nothing inappropriate in either of their comments. The only thing inappropriate, in my opinion, is your name calling. As for your observation on lizdance40, she is a very knowledgeable and valued member here but she will be the first to admit many have called her the same names you have called the other two.

@blove40 You dropped the phone and damaged it. So even if you were eligible for the promotion and cancelled before the 30 months you would be responsible for the full balance of the device.

@coastalhues

I get called out as 'rude' all the time because my replies go straight to the facts, and do not contain the flowery and brown nosing sort of language that customer service uses.

Especially if someone has pinned my 'entitled meter', is rude themselves, or just plain wrong.

    I regularly call people out for having agreed to something that they did not read (yeah, crazy, but I read everything). It's never well received.

Fortunately most of the questions on the Forum are really simple and easy to answer. But when something goes very wrong, as in the case of this original poster, their frustration level is already well Beyond Reason, and they want someone to punish.  We don't get paid, so don't have to put up with it.   A few trinkets each year and a green ribbon are not incentive to be anything but truthful and frank.

   We still make mistakes.  I find the reading some of my old posts is cringe-worthy.   But thanks, not everyone finds 'neutral' to be nice enough.
