Extra line added for 25$ - lies about extra fees - one chance before Ï cancel both lines

I went to at&t shop in Beaverton, as I wanted an extra line for my friend who's here for few months. After checking the options everywhere, the 25$ per month option without contrat was a good option. When I asked twice: is there going to be ANY EXTRA FEES than the 25$ for the line, and when the employee answers twice "there won't be any charges", I believe it. I really insisted on that and next thing I know, my bill for the extra line is 49$, meaning more than my first line? I'm just thinking : "do you really think I'm an idio*?". I didn't sign anything that agreed on that so someone better fix the issue or I will take my money and go somewhere else ASAP. I really think it's inadmissible to lie like that; just because you're a seller doesn't mean you can pretend whathever you want and make you think you're an idio*. I will refuse to pay the bill as long as this issue isn't fixed. Period.

Did you already have a device or did you have to purchase one through the NEXT program? I know it is semantics, but your service really is $25 plus taxes and fees. The balance is the NEXT installment payment.

If you fail to pay your bill, ATT will turn it over to a collection agency. You'll end up paying even more, your credit will be affected, and any future carrier will require a hefty deposit before giving you service. You ought to call customer service and figure out what is going on.

On the first bill, there is a charge for current month and a month a head. First month is prorated. And there is always tax.
Look at the bill details...

This is most likely the explanation. You added the line during a billing cycle so you where were charged for however many days left in that billing cycle plus a full $25 for the next billing cycle plus applicable taxes.

Now going forward, there will be taxes added so you won't be paying just $25 for that new line each month, you will be paying $25 + taxes. If you feel you need to cancel because the rep didn't tell you about taxes, then I guess you'll have to cancel because not charging taxes is not an option.

Since he said he only wanted to add the line for a short time and didn't have to enter a two year contract, he almost suredly is on the NEXT program  and making installment payments.
