Experian Boost does not recognize "Connect Tech" as a cell phone carrier, when you pay your bill with a credit card it no longer says AT&T

When you pay your AT&T bill now with a credit card instead of saying that the payment is for AT&T it says it is for "Connect Tech", that's ridiculous did you know that Experian boost does not recognize "Connect Tech" as a cell phone carrier? When you pay your AT&T bill with a credit card it should say that you paid AT&T not "Connect Tech"!! Whoever decided to use "Connect Tech" for AT&T customer credit card payment processing should be fired!! that's right they should lose their job. Customers who use Experian boost and who rely on the AT&T cell phone history payment history to prove and show that they pay their bills are now getting screwed by AT&T! Some (Edited per community guidelines) working for AT&T decided to switch to some credit card processing company called "connectech", and yes this includes if you call in and use the automated system it's integrated into AT&T corporate. Customers who formerly enjoyed credibility with Experian boost utilizing their AT&T cell phone payment history BE WARNED, Experian boost is going to drop that history like a bad habit and drop your credit score once they see "connect tech" on your credit card payment, instead of it saying AT&T like it use to in the past!!

Hello, @

We do understand your frustration over this occurrence. However, as previously mentioned in this thread to receive additional information on the credit card's name listed on the bill. You will need to contact your financial institution, as Experian credit is a third party entity from AT&T. If you have any AT&T related questions in the future, please feel free to reach out to us.

We hope this information was helpful!

@ATTHelp It sure would help if you would elaborate on why customers paying by credit card are seeing Connect Tech as the payee. Is that deliberate? As noted earlier in the thread, there are instances of customers thinking it’s an unauthorized charge and contacting their card issuer to invalidate the charge. That leads to issues for both ATT and customer. Certainly ATT does not want that.

@MicCheck

Regarding number two:  none of this affects you at all @MicCheck  and therefore based on your logic it is absolutely none of your business! 😘 as for whether or not I received help that's entirely subjective and wouldn't that be a question that I would answer if I truly received help here or not rather than a question that you would answer someone that it's absolutely none of their business since none of this affects them at all? Touche have a blessed day!

Receiving the answer that you want isn't necessarily "getting help." Giving you the actual solution to the actual problem is. Your problem is that Experian no longer recognizes your AT&T payment as a cell phone payment. The solution is to contact Experian

Anyone who happens upon this thread who has the same question now knows the answer, too.

I could have done what so many customer service reps do and give you an answer that sounds good and makes you happy. "Call 800-555-2343! That will get you directly to the AT&T department that can make changes to how credit card charges are labeled." Sounds like great help...but is completely false.

I have 2 accounts with AT&T, one postpaid for my family and one prepaid for a non profit. Both are billed to my credit card. The postpaid charge shows AT&T Bill Payment, the prepaid shows Vesta AT&T Prepaid.

Not sure why his shows Connect Tech. Did he get his account through an authorized retailer and that may be where they do their credit card processing?

I only deal with corporate stores.

@kdfederer I'm not sure what's going on. Other customers have mentioned a similar change. I wouldn't think it would matter where the account was set up since it's different just in the past month or so.

It's weird that just a portion (and it appears a relatively small portion) changed to being billed by Connect Tech. It would be nice if AT&T would explain the change and let people know if it's an error or an intentional change.

I am a legacy AT&T customer corporate store corporate account over 20 years. I go as far back as, Michigan bell, SPC Ameritech, singular Orange, AT&T loyal customer for decades. As far as this being part of anybody's business or not part of anybody's business you can't say I'm wrong I have one set of rules your rules! AT&T rules! I played by the set of rules that are set in front of me if I find a problem with those set of rules and I call it out that doesn't make me wrong! I'm not here to have a hundred thousand posts I'm not here for a popularity contest I'm here to solve a real problem for myself and potentially for many other AT&T customers! This isn't Twitter this isn't even real social media. Furthermore there is no value and no real accreditation regarding the length of time that anybody has been in AT&T Community Forum member it has no legitimacy to whether or not they are helpful in general. Like I said this isn't social media because I only signed up and started posting two days ago does not discredit the truth of the situation. Now unless somebody is being affected by this and has some something helpful like contacting a T and T and finding out what's really going on over there I don't care to argue with anyone on here and I could care less about your community Forum status. So if you don't have anything to contribute regarding actually solving this exact situation stop posting just so you can get some 2021 Community award. If none of this is any of your business or concern stay out of it like I said I play by your rules , you might have to swallow your pride Bless you all and have a wonderful day I have things to do going to go take care of those things right now!:-)

To all the people who are asking, "What's the big deal?" and so forth, you are absolutely WRONG! It IS a big deal! I came across this thread because I have been fighting with my credit score for nearly six months while trying to qualify to buy a home. At the beginning of the year, I was at 627. I signed up for Experian Boost thinking this might help push me the last of the way, because I had nothing else I could do. I had also just qualified to refinance my car payment, but decided to wait until my credit score got a little higher for a better interest rate. In March I attempted to qualify for a home loan, but was told my mid score wasn't even at the minimum of 580. I was perplexed, because I had done nothing, except pay some stuff off. I checked with that same lender this month and was told my score had FINALLY reached that mid score of 580, but that I should try to refinance my car. I reached out to do that to the same place who now turned me down, saying that my score was lower than it had been in January. In digging into my credit report, it was discovered that Experian Boost was self-reporting ConnectTech as an $1800 bill. Took me a while to figure this out. The $1800 "bill" was actually my regular cell phone ($120 a month) and my 2 cell phones, which I had been paying out starting in May of 2021, but had actually paid off in December of 2021, so now my bill is back down to just the $120 a month, yet self reporting Experian Boost is STILL reporting as ConnectTech of $1800 and I'm told this is hurting my credit. In addition to this, by the way, it's also reporting Hulu, Netflix and all of that and it's doing it in such a way that, I'm told, is hurting my credit. Everything I read says Experian Boost won't, but I have now (as of today) disconnected my bank account. This is ridiculous.

Funny AT&T has never reported to my credit report in 20 years. Good or bad

@bluehoratio Nothing you described sounds like a problem on AT&T's end, but with Experian's reporting.
