DONT BELIEVE LIES OF THE SALES REPRESENTATIVES

They will tell you anything to trick you into having to pay more.  You can ask them over and over again if they are positive you are only going to have to pay so much and then we get the bill and it doubled! And it was so convenient that when I tried to get a supervisor they were unavailable. I will be filing a (Edited per community guidelines), this has happened to too many people and they should not be able to get away with lying to their customers to profit for themselves.  That is so wrong. Obviously this company doesn't hold their employees to have integrity or to actually want the best for their customers. It is wrong and unethical and any honest judge would agree after hearing the same story from thousands of people.

WHERE did you interact with this salesperson?  In a Sam's Club/Costco/third party?  In a store?  Was the store an "Authorized Retailer?  A corporate store?

Are you sure you were lied to? First bills are always higher due to one time activation fees, not all discounts and credits have been applied and that first bill is for more than one month of service. Without actual details of what plan you have, what you were promised the bill would be and what you were actually billed for, no way to say if you were lied to or not. A first bill double of what it will be going forward is not unusual.

I was also lied to. The representative came into my house and talked about service. He said it would be $105 plus taxes. I asked about any additional fees or if they were included and he assured me there would be no additional fees. First bill came and there are $29.60 in additional fees (plus $3.64 in taxes) plus the $30 activation fee I was never informed about either. I kept notes during our interaction as I have dealt with providers that did this same thing. I will try to report him in every way imaginable, but I don't expect anything to come of it. Truly dishonest.

@xle3blx  "came into my house"? That sounds like an independent reseller (like a Sam's Club, Costco, Target, etc) who is not an AT&T employee and actually works for an independently owned and operated business that just resells AT&T goods and services. If that's the case, then AT&T will only honor deals and promos that is listed on the AT&T website. The independent will say and do just about anything to make a sale. If it was a real AT&T employee/representative, then what @sandblaster mentioned is probably what happened.

We'll be happy to walk you through your bill @xle3blx.

As mentioned above, the first bill is generally a bit higher due to one-time activation fees and credits and discounts that have yet to apply. It's possible that the price the rep quoted you is what your monthly bill will look like after this cycle.

If you have further questions regarding the specific charges, please let us know, and we'll be happy to proceed from there.

@OttoPylot @ATTHelp

On the carbon copy of the form I filled out it says "AT&T In Home Expert / 5JVI" dealer code "TIA3Q". I am upset about the $29.60 in additional fees. Not the activation fees. I was told there would not be any additional fees, only taxes. My previous provider included any fees in the price.

@xle3blx  That doesn't mean anything other than the "dealer" is called an AT&T In Home Expert and is selling AT&T goods and service. He could very well have been an AT&T employee, in which case what @sandblaster pointed out above is true.

@ATTHelp Well someone did DM me, but after 30 minutes of waiting for them to "review my acct" I am wondering if this is just another waste of my time.

Taxes required by state, local and federal government are not fees.  The only one time fee is the $30 activation fee.

One line does not have $29 in fees.

More like prorated partial months service.

@formerlyknownas These are not taxes.

Company fees & surcharges Total $7.40
Administrative Fee $1.99
Federal Universal Service Charge $2.84
Indiana Universal Service $0.52
Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge $1.50
State Gross Receipts Surcharge $0.52
Telecom Relay Service Fund $0.03

$7.40 x 4 = $29.60
