COST OF ADDITIONAL DEVICE

I am considering the purchase of an ipad as an additional line on my account.  i went through the motions of adding this device, and it told me that the cost would be $178 per month.  Is this on top of my monthly charges as they are now?

And iPad does not cost $178 per month which you can verify if you go to the sales page and look it up.

   Depending on which plan you have the addition of an iPad is 10 to $20 plus tax, each month for service, Plus the installments.

    You will be charged sales tax on the full cost of the device upfront and a one-time activation fee which is billed on your account.
