Complaint: Bait and Switch
I was a Verizon wireless customer for more than 15 years. I stopped by an AT&T store in Montclair, CA to look at the new iphone 8+ because my son wants one. The person at the store promised me that my monthly payments will be lower than Verizon. I got 2 iphone 8+, and I was told 1 would be free, then I got 2 regular iphone 8's, and 1 would be free. Now, AT&T customer service is telling me that the BOGO offer is only for the regular iphone 8's. It's just a matter of $3, but the point is that AT&T lies and deceives people just to get them to sign up wit them.
Sure, it's probably on the fine print, but who reads those.
Also, the promise that my bill will be lower than Verizon never happened. I'm actually paying a lot more.
This is a bad business practice.
Here's what I promise you AT&T, right after I paid off my phones, I'm going back to Verizon.

You should have received all correct information, but you could have prevented any issues had you protected yourself. You receive a customer service summary telling you the costs of the plan selected. You should know if that is more or less than Verizon.
"Sure it's probably..who reads those"
People who don't want to be taken by surprise the details of their plans or promotions, that's who.

Definitely trust AT&T. Just trust the black and white, written materials they give, not what fallible humans have to say.

When have you ever seen a BOGO on anything where it didn’t say, “higher price prevails” ? Meaning the FREE item is the lower priced. In your case the base model iPhone 8. You pay for the iPhone 8 Plus.
So you will still get 2 phones free, the iPhone 8.
Other carriers have similar maximum offers. The free phone is always the less expensive model.
As for your bill being more, why didn’t you compare the service prices before switching?
That’s simple math. (ATT and Verizon are almost always about $5 apart in price).
The sad thing is you probably had a well priced, older plan with Verizon. You can’t get it back. Just like if I give up my ATT plan I can’t get it back, and the closest Verizon can come would cost me $70 more a month.

You talk like your a smart person and you think I'm dumb. It 8s simple math, but you know that's not what happens when somebody tries to sell you something.
[Please keep it courteous]
