Can I unlock a phone within 15 days of upgrading and port-out?
Hi All,
I recently upgraded my 2 phones from iphone 5 to iphone 6 by extending my contract for 2 years. I have been with ATT for 4 years. One iphone 6 was upgraded 20 days ago, the another one was upgraded 7 days ago.
If I now port these 2 numbers to another carrier, will I got ETF charged for both phones? If I pay them immediately, could I request them unlocked as soon as possible? Do I need to wait for 60 days?
Thanks!

Thanks, but I heard about 2 things:
I don't know if the either apply to me.
Thanks!

I want to keep the 2 iphone 6. The main reason is to get them unlocked so I can use them overseas for 1 month. I talked to ATT and they cannot unlock them for me. The only way I can think of is to port them out to T-mobile and pay the ETF for both lines. I also know that the final bill is not prorated, so I have to do that before Dec-6. But then one of the iphone 6 is still within 14 days of activations. And I also heard about the 60 days rule of unlock and wonder if it applies to me.
I would only wish ATT can just unlock the phones and I don't need to go through these hassle.
Sigh...

Thanks, I will let everyone how this will turn out finger crossed. Of course, if there are anyone with divine power here in the community who can help me unlock, I don't need to do all these.

I just port my numbers away from ATT (Dec-4). My billing cycle ends Dec-6. When would I be expecting my final bill via snail mail?

It would have been cheaper to sign up for the $5.00 international plan and pay the charges, or buy a throwaway phone when you land at your destination. Instead you will have a bill for about $2,000 for the phones and service.
