BJ'S ATT iPhone 11 on us -& 250 dollar gift card offer fraud

I met the ATT sales person in BJs store in Exton,PA on January 1st week.

The offer was iPhone 11 on us with eligible iPhone trade.

I took 4 lines , 3 iPhone 11's & 1 11 pro .

I sent the eligible phones to ATT.

I received the gift cards.

It's been almost 2 months since I opened up a case with ATT.

Even after several calls , no update .

The answer was - they are looking into the case & there is a backlog in back office cases.

I think this is a fraud offer .

ATT is charging me for the devices from the last 7 months.

Did anyone else experience the same ?

Those kiosks in BJ's, Costco, and Sam's Club are not owned and operated by AT&T employees. These are franchise services.

The offer from AT&T is a $700 trade in offer, not free phones.

Yes I have seen similar complaints from the stores I listed above. In the end the only way to get any credits is to complain against both the retailer, in your case BJ's and AT&T.

If BJ's messed up or lied, AT&T is not going to take responsibility, but may honor a promotion if you met requirements.

File a Better Business Bureau complaint against both businesses, and hopefully they will get their act together and at least provide you with an answer.

Greetings @RT2000,

We hate to hear that you've been charged for the devices for the last 7 months. We'd like to ask you some questions to better assist you.

  • Were you given the break down on the promotion?
  • Have you tried to get back in contact with the salesperson?

hello,

I was not given any breakdown - but ATT provided me the return labels to send my phones back , which I did. After that I did not get hear back from ATT.

And to make matters worse, ATT has been looking at this ticket for nearly 2 months without any updates.

I was offered this deal by an AT&T  customer service representative who came to my house with a technician to repair the service line to my house. I just cannot figure out how to find my bill!

I have the very same issue, signed up new AT&T service during Black Friday in 2019.  The promotion was for a free iPhone 11 with eligible trade-in, the monthly installment amount for the phone would be credited after phone is sent in.  We mailed the phone in using the supplied shipping label - made the mistake of not keeping the label #.  It's now August and I've been paying monthly installments for the phone yet not receiving a credit.  I called a few months back and they told me to see it on the next statement going forward.  Still no credits - called AT&T today and they tell me they are not familiar with this promotion nor they have record of receiving the trade-in phone.

This is quite upsetting, and now it seems others have experienced similar problems.

Sorry to hear that it happened to you as well.

I went to the BJ's store yesterday & asked them about this.

They told me that several people complained about the same -

They promised me that ATT rep would call me .

I am still waiting...

We were told we would receive a free iPhone 13pro and $250 BJ gift cards. (X2)

We are being billed for the “free” phone and we have not received the $250 gift cards. We asked BJ customer service and they say that’s AT&T’s responsibility. We asked AT&T and they said it’s BJ’s responsibility. Hmmmm. This sales is looking more and more like it’s fraudulent. I’m not done with this.

After stopping at an AT&T store today, I texted the young man, today, who sold the “deal” to my wife and me.

I texted….
note: (I did not even mention the gift card)

I just confirmed that we did NOT get our phones for free. There IS. a monthly charge for the “free” phone. Integrity is a critical aspect of sales.  It saddens me that you were not truthful.

His reply:

“I left that company a while ago they weren’t truthful with me I said to people what they told me to say and most some stuff weren’t completely true and they were also cutting our paychecks short”

Also note: When he sold us the iPhone 13 pros, as a new salesman,  he was actually reading and following the steps from his notes.
