Billing issues and payment

I started my service and cancelled the plan within a day but the bill and installment amounts did not make sense. I called your service department and one lady confirmed that the activation would be waived and had confirmed it on the account. Second one mentioned that it would not be waived and I filed a complaint for that. Since then I have hard nothing regarding the complaint and the final bill. Your system still shows the bill with incorrect service charges for the month. I could not make a payment for the phone only. I went to different AT&T stores. One payment store mentioned he could not make split payment since they did not had kiosk. The other one said you can't make specific payment to only phone installment. After questioning the second one, she mentioned that since the account is closed, she had no way to split payment. I asked her to take one month of payment and note it on the account that the payment would be made towards the installment of the phone but she said she cannot add in any comments. It really hurts that one of the biggest wireless carrier in US with no clarity. All I need is the activation fee to be not charged and tell the final amount to be paid so that I am done with AT&T. The service charges should not be there as well since I changed my mind and cancelled the service in less than even 12 hours of buying the phone. I can't return the phone because I gave it to a friend of mine which hates AT&T and has dumped me. Please settle this account appropriately?

This forum is not customer support. Your bill won’t get fixed here. If calls aren’t getting results, file an FCC or BBB complaint.

It is, in fact, a great place to post your issues when they are not getting resolved after much effort and having exhausted normal measures! You have done that, reemabansa. Posting ongoing issues provides an opportunity to learn how extensive unresolved issues are, WHAT they are, if there are common issues ignored by ATT, and if they do get resolved we can post the resolution to assist others. This is what a consumer community forum is meant to achieve as well. I came to the forum about such an unresolved issue and it is a substantial negative impact to our family plans. Along with repeated attempts applying the typical measures to correct this, I wrote to the FTC as a consumer being harmed financially. They, of course, do not respond, nor will the FCC. AT LEAST, not to individuals. Let us come together with our issues which is more impactful, get them categorized and submit a joint complaint to relevant multiiple government agencies and non-profit consumer advocate agencies and see what sticks. I for one have had enough. I will after this be submitting my problem with AT&T and will be asking customers (my fellow consumer citizens!) to reach out to me so we can construct a mature and effective joint and joined approach to resolutions.

@ConsumerJaneDoe

Thank you for your suggestions. AT&T is shame to USA. Filed a complaint on FCC. There is serious UDAAP issue here. A fine should be levied on them.
