Bait and switch AT&T
I bought a new Samsung for $1,200 and sent in my old Samsung for an $800 credit. I signed up for the $50 a month plan. I had not received a credit as of 4 months so I called. I was told to wait a few more months. At 6 months, and still no credit, I called again. I was told the promotion for the $800 credit for my old phone was only for the monthly plans costing $65 and up. If I wanted my $800 I had to switch. THAT'S BAIT AND SWITCH. The supervisor said he could authorize $400 but no more. The trade in department told me they'd give me the $800 but only if I switched to the $65 a month plan for 36 months and they'd divide up my credit over that time. That's against the law. I'm writing corporate and will see what happens. I have a friend of a friend I just met who is fighting the same thing with AT&T so this is no error. This is intentional and illegal!!!

It's not a bait and switch when the $50 plan is specifically excluded from the promotion and when you buy online it even tells you that. So does the fine print.
The offer says the minimum unlimited plan has to cost $75. And expressly excludes the unlimited value plan as well as metered plans
Below is the warning if you use the unlimited value plan when you order a phone with the trade-in promotion

It is bait and switch. The AT&T Salesforce told me the $50 plan was OK. So I switched from Tt- Mobile where I was paying $40 on a family plan because the salesperson told me once I enroll in automatic bill pay the cost will be $40. They also accepted my Samsung S8 Active and say they can't return it, have me send back the S22 Ultra and cancel the whole deal. Despite any fine print, I was lied to and according to you, I'm still being lied to since they told me the $65 plan was OK. I would never have switched knowing what I know now. T- Mobile never pulled anyhow like this in the many years I was with them.

Salesforce?
What the what?
They gave you a lot of misinformation. The $65 plan is not $65. It's a $75 plan, that is the base price. The autopay and paperless billing discount of $10 reduces the cost to $65. The $50 plan is not a $50 plan it's a $60 plan with a $10 auto pay and paperless billing discount. Anyone who told you you are getting a $40 plan from AT&T was blowing smoke

Why do you believe you are still being lied to? The $65 plan is eligible. $65 is the price after the autopay discount. The base price is $75, hence it qualifies. Regardless of what you call it, if someone from ATT told you the $50 plan qualified, they were wrong. Whether they were just clueless or knew they were giving you false information, no way to know.

In the future, please read the website. All the information on the phone deals, and the required plans and their prices is all published. This is true for all service providers.
There are no other prices.
You should have been sent an email after signing up which would have verified the cost of service, the name of your plan, and the cost of your phone.
Yes? No?

Yes. EVERYONE!!! Make sure you read every last detail including the fine print. AT&T salespeople are trained to give misinformation and then when you don't read everything, trusting they are honest, you have no legal recourse. Check out the 14 million dollar settlement AT&T just had to pay last year (2022) for scamming customers. I wish I had stayed with T-mobile.

Had nothing to do with any scam. The settlement was over the admin fee ATT charges on every line, a fee Verizon also charges by the way.

Of course. AT&T's fine print is not all the "fine" however.
Of course that's not true
That settlement (note, not a judgement) was because some customers didn't like paying the AT&T admin fee and thought they were "misled." Pretty weak argument, but AT&T decided it was better to just pay than waste time and money in court for years.

🤦🏼♀️ Good grief
There are multiple notices that the $50 plan is excluded from phone promotions.

Sounds like someone is *utt-hurt because they didn't take the time to research the deal or carefully read/understand the promo. There's no mention, unless I missed it, that indicates where the "AT&T Salesforce" person was. AT&T online, an AT&T Retail Store, an AT&T Corporate Store, or some kiosk at Sam's Club/Target etc.
