Att overcharged me, twice, and now I have a collection due, and it's affecting my credit

I tried to cancel my account in september of 2019. the company failed to remove my watch from the account and for some reason charged me an extra month. I have been to the ATT store 2x and was told I need to call. When I call, I don't have an account anymore, so I cant get past the auto router. I feel that ATT owes me $250+ and I have not been able to talk to anyone, nor get any help from them. Now I have a collection and a ding on my credit!!!!

I was a customer for over 15 years and I had to switch service because they could not provide adequate service to my area. How do I talk to someone to resolve this issue?

why would an ATT employee tag a non employee to tell me that the money that was wrongly taken from me is my fault?

You asked "why would an ATT employee tag a non employee to tell me that the money that was wrongly taken from me is my fault?"
Because the employee is a pole engineer, and knows I know a lot about wireless and AT&T Wireless policy.

Nope this one's on you.
In order to cancel service on a watch, tablet, or dedicated hotspot device, you must call.
There are two ways of canceling service one is to port numbers out to a new carrier. If you port all of your numbers out then all of your service has been canceled and you will not be billed anymore.
But most carriers do not port lines for anything other than phones.

this is not on me. I put in hours of my time to go to att stores, call the att number that they give me to call with no results. They took money from my bank account while not providing me a service.

If I call and the system does not let me speak to a human, but instead hangs up on me.... what is my next option? To get on a forum to try for results. If you have a way for me to speak to a rep from ATT wireless, then im all ears.

After they already got paid? And for valid charges because you failed to cancel your watch line?
It's done. They aren't going to refund.
This is a mistake you won't make again, because its SOP with all carriers.

I would like to talk to a representative of ATT. I feel like that is a reasonable request.

Thanks for your input Liz, I guess i should have named my forum how do i get a hold of ATT when it feels like they are dodging me.

Why do you think AT&T owes you money? It sounds like you never paid.

The first post says he was charged. Auto pay was still working.
Getting a refund from AT&T after you cancelled, for valid charges would be like keeping a snowball in a frying pan from melting

@MicCheck

I don't care about the money they already have. I do care that I have been sent to collections. I certainly do not owe them any money.

Until I can see my paperwork, which I can't do now because my account has been closed since I switched services, I feel like they took more than they should have.

Its as if my account is lost and no one knows where to find it.
