Arrangement? Or extension possible.

I’ve recently had trouble finding work. And so with that followed me not having money to pay off my at&t bill, and recently I was sent a letter by AT&T- that if I don’t pay off my amount due- it’ll be sent to a collection agency. My first question being, is there anyway I can avoid that, by let’s say, asking for an extension by paying off the ‘past amount’ due which is around $300? And my second question is, how long do I have before it goes to a collection agency? Please help!

You are already past the point of getting an extension or making a payment arrangement. Yes, I believe paying the past amount due should prevent getting sent to a collection agency but the only way to get service restored is to pay everything owed, including any new bill even if not due yet. Just FYI, if they do send to a collection agency, they would close your account first.
