Are there additional charges if paying for phone outright when upgrading?

Are there additional charges or fees (such as monthly payments) that are incurred if I upgrade a phone and pay the full cost up-front (aside from the one time upgrade fee and sales tax)? The account is paid to current, phone is eligible for upgrade, and user is part of a shared plan but individually on the AT&T Unlimited Elite Plan (5G). The current phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 - AT&T Prepaid. New phone will be a Galaxy S21.  Don't see reference to additional charges in policies, bur want to confirm that paying for the phone outright won't incur any additional charges?

If you're going to pay full price, don't buy from AT&T so you can avoid the upgrade fee. You can go to Best Buy, or buy directly from Samsung, pay full price

Last time I purchased a full price Samsung from best buy, I just told them I was prepaid, they didn't even ask for my phone number.
