Abuse of my Gmail address - fraud
Hi,
a few month ago, I received emails on my gmail account that I bought something on ATT. I didn’t even know this company so I ignored those mails because I considered them as spam. Unfortunately, I now get demands to pay open bills for what I have never purchased. Seems as if someone is abusing my email address for this. I couldn’t log into my account and don’t know how to contact someone of the support since I live in Germany and not in the US. Is there a possibility to remove my gmail address from this account such that I don’t receive thus information?
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, there is no way to remove your email address. Only the account owner can change the email address associated with their account. Just mark them as spam and ignore.

I am doing that at the moment but I am still receiving emails which is really annoying. I also don’t want to get into trouble for not paying something I am actually not involved in….

Sending an email to you doesn't make you responsible to a bill. Anyone can pretty much send an email to anyone. If you don't have any account with AT&T, you don't owe anything.
Assuming you're German and don't plan to move to the US, there's nothing AT&T could do even if it thought you owed money.

Acceptable or not, it’s accurate. You are not responsible for those charges, don’t worry about it.

The only action you can reasonably take, since you are in the EU, is to check with your local privacy officer and tell them that a company (AT&T) has your PI (to whit your e-mail address) and will not remove it from their database in violation of the GDPR.
Find out from them how to take an action against the company. GDPR fines can be stiff.

Let's work together to figure out why you're receiving emails from us, @Sabi96.
You can protect yourself from email scams by learning how to recognize them. Any of these signs can indicate a fraudulent email that needs to be reported and deleted:
If you suspect an email is malicious, please forward the email to AT&T at abuse@att.net. When possible, include the full email header to help us identify the origins of the email.
If this is related to marketing emails, you can either fill out our form to unsubscribe or select the unsubscribe button located at the bottom of the email you received. ******Note: It may take up to 10 business days for your request to stop receiving commercial emails to take effect.
Also, the ACE's on this thread shared some helpful tips on receiving unwarranted emails from AT&T.
After reviewing the information above, if you feel like these emails are intended for an actual AT&T customer, please let us know and we'll help put an end to those for you.
Thanks!

@ATTHelp Thank you very much for your reply! Since the email with the bill indeed contains some digits of the account number, I guess it is supposed to be for a real customer which (unintendedly) took my email address for the account. Where can I report this? Should I forward the mail to abuse@att.net?
