You’ve tried to enter your IMEI too many times. We can’t unlock this device.

Hello. I submitted and unlock request for an old iPhone 6 and received the following denial response.

"You’ve tried to enter your IMEI too many times. We can’t unlock this device."

I only entered the IMEI one time.

Please advise.

Thanks!

@MicCheck  AT&T doesn’t get unlock codes from Apple.  Apple unlocks phones via their servers.  All AT&T does is approve and send the request to Apple to actually perform the unlock.  Since iPhone 6 is the lowest iPhone that will work post-3G shutdown, there should be no problem with Apple being able to process the unlock.

If the iPhone 6 hasn’t been used on AT&Ts network for a long time, it’s likely that the issue is that the IMEI isn’t in their database anymore.

An iPhone 6 is probably too old for AT&T to be able to get unlock codes from Apple.

Hey there! We understand the importance of having your device unlocked, and we are here to provide the information you need.

In order to take a deeper look into this, we will need to access some account related information. To do this, it would be best if we connect in a DM, so please look out for a DM notification from us.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Resolved.

AT&T investigated and determined the IMEI provided was associated with equipment that had

not been used on AT&T’s network since 2016. AT&T verified the IMEI was eligible and submitted the IMEI

for unlock. The phone is now unlocked and functioning.

@ATTHelp, I am facing a similar issue. Have a device that is no longer with ATT since last November and is eligible for unlock. Unfortunately, the portal keeps saying "IMEI has been entered too many times".  IMEI is ( Edited as per community guidelines). Please advise. Thank you.
