why doesn't AT&T offer a plan with a Jitterbug type flip phone for senior?
My mom is 92 and has been an AT&T customer for years for both landline and cell phone.
As her eyesight and hearing is worsening recently, she needs a flip phone that is suitable for her needs which are very common among elderly. I have read many posts here and there is definitely a need for a Jitterbug type phone that AT&T should provide.
Unfortunately the newer updated flip phone we purchased for her is impossible for her to use. We will probably return it and purchase something she can use which means dropping AT&T.
The screen is too light - there is not enough contrast, the type is too small and the navigation button (up or down) is hard for elderly fingers to accurately use!
We adjusted the sound to the loudest ring (15/15) but it is barely audible and I have excellent hearing!
This phone was not designed for an aging population.
The only reason we bought it was so she could keep her AT&T phone number and we thought it was a benefit to transfer all her contacts over easily from the old phone to this one.
Obviously, the frustration in using this phone is enough for us to switch over to another carrier in order to get a phone she can use.
It is sad that a company as large as AT&T is not responding to all the customers who have been requesting this type of product.
Not everyone wants or can use a smart phone.
My mom wants to receive and make calls with her family.
She does not want to do anything else with her phone!
