Why does the store in Hot Springs Arkansas make their employees check in with the manager before they complete the transaction?

I go in and they try to sell me internet or TV.   I don't want either......I just want to pay my wireless bill or I need my phone fixed.      But before they take my payment, they have to go check in with the manager who is tied up for 10 more minutes.       I literally upgraded and got a new phone and went back the NEXT DAY and had to go through this whole process all over again.  The rep just kept apologizing and said that they have to "check in"   Hello.     My TIME IS VALUABLE.    Im still well within my return period so I'm switching to Verizon.

AT&T this policy (Edited per community guidelines) and you are driving customers AWAY.

There’s a good chance that you are dealing with an Authorized Reseller and their main objective is to sell products and services.  They are independently owned & operated.

Look at the outside signage of the store. If it says Authorized AT&T Retail then what @skeeterintexas posted is the answer. Sometimes the store hasn't updated the outside signage so it always pays to ask when you go in just to be sure. As a side note, the kiosks you see in Target, Costco, Sam's Club, etc are also independently owned and operated separate from AT&T and are not staffed with AT&T employees either. Be wary of either place.

There are 10 ATT locations listed in that area…

https://www.att.com/stores/

choose the store , store info , ABOUT

If an authorized reseller will say so.

example…

If your time is so valuable why are you going into a store to pay a bill that you can easily pay by yourself online? 🙄

You would be surprised by how many people still want to pay their bills in person or by mail.  🤷‍♀️
