Trade in program question

I ended up having to buy a new phone over the phone since ATT had my account flagged for fraud.

they told me the website to go to for the trade in part.  However, it is possible to bring the phone into the ATT store instead even though I had to purchase the phone by calling in?

Let's shed some light on how to return your trade-in device and confirm that we have the right information on file for you, @AuntSissy

The answer to your trade-in question is, yes. You are able to return your device to a participating authorized retail location. The following stores don't participate due to local ordinances:

  • 2000 Route 38 Cherry Hill, NJ.
  • 100 Haddonfield Rd. Cherry Hill, NJ.
  • 3849 S. Delsea Dr. C21 Vineland, NJ.

Follow this pre trade-in checklist to learn how to transfer your content and remove personal information before trading the device:

For Android devices
Instructions may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.

  • Transfer your personal content from your old device using Google.

1. From your old device, go to Settings, then Google, then Backup, then Backup to Google Drive, and turn the switch on.
2. When setting up your new device, add your Google account. You’ll be able to access the content you backed up from
your old device.

  • Turn off Find my Device.

1. Go to Settings, then Google, then Security, then Find My Device.

2. Select the switch next to Find my Device to turn it off.

  • Remove the SIM and any microSD cards.

1. Remove the battery cover and battery so you can access the SIM and any microSD cards. If your devise has a nonremovable battery, insert a SIM tool into the small hole to eject the SIM tray.

2. Remove the SIM and any microSD cards.
3. Replace the battery and battery cover or push the empty SIM tray back in.

  • Do a factory reset.

1. Go to Settings, then General management, then Reset, then Factory data reset.
2. Select Reset again.
3. Enter your passcode, if prompted.
4. Select Delete all.

For Apple devices

  • Transfer your personal content to your new device.

1. From your old device, go to Settings and select Passwords & Accounts, then iCloud.
2. Select the switch next to each item you want to transfer to iCloud.
3. On your new device, turn on iCloud to find the transferred content. Go to Settings, then Passwords & Accounts, then
Add Account, then iCloud. Enter your Apple ID and password. Select the switch next to each item you want to place
on your new device.

  • Turn off Find my iPhone.

1. Go to Settings, then Passwords & Accounts, then iCloud, then Find My, then Find my iPhone.
2. Select the switch next to Find my iPhone to turn it off.
Remove the SIM card.
1. Insert a SIM tool into the small hole to eject the SIM tray.
2. Remove the SIM card from the SIM tray.
3. Push the empty SIM tray back in.

  • Do a factory reset.

1. Go to Settings, then General, then Reset, then Erase All Content and Settings.
2. Select Erase Now, then Erase iPhone.
3. Enter your passcode, if prompted.

We'd also like to address your fraud inquiry. We're glad to hear that there aren't any red flags on your credit report. The fraud department may have directed you to check your report if you were unable to verify the information that they pulled from it. If your AT&T account isn't locked, then you should be fine. We recommend reviewing your security options for your account. You can change or verify settings for:

  • Account access (passwords, passcodes, ID, security questions, and contact info).
  • Other users on your accounts.

It's also important to keep your billing information up to date. Here's how to do this online:

  • Sign in and go to Contact info.
  • If you have more than one account, select the account to update from the menu.
  • Select the Phone, Email, or Address tab.
  • Choose Edit to update the billing phone numbers, billing email, or billing address.
  • Select Save.
