The customer you are trying to reach isn't accepting calls at this time

Yesterday I was trying to call someone and kept getting a recording of the customer you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time. I see in the forum that this means blocked or non payment. Well I know its not for non-payment because I am on the account as well. So my question is...if my number was blocked would the person I was trying to call see the missed calls from me? Also if I was blocked would my texts go through? This has happened before and the person says its the phone that's acting funny. But then I was told by the person that they could see the missed calls and I never received a blocked message when my texts were sent.

Hello Community!

This is a popular search term within our forums, so we wanted to take a moment provide the details surrounding what this error means.

The possible reasons you would get this error when calling someone is that their:

  • Account is not in an active status
  • Incoming calls are blocked via a service or device feature
  • Number is in process of being ported to another carrier
  • Phone is off and voicemail is not set up, or they are out of range

For all of these scenarios, the resolution would be to reach the person via an alternate method to notify them of the issue.

Im trying to call someone and the automated voices instantly says "the number you are trying to call is not reachable. PPS 6180".  I believe the recipient of the call has a prepaid iphone.  What does this message mean, please?

Yes, the person does have a prepaid phone. I have the prepaid LG Neon, and when I run out of funds on my account, people cannot call or reach me. (Only throught text. :P) I tried to call my Neon on my house phone, and the exact same message was said to me. I checked the money on my phone, and sure enough, I had $0.01 on the account. So until I refilled my account, my wireless number was "not reachable".

In this case, the person whom you were trying to call probably ran out of money on their prepaid account. Until they refill it, their number will continue to be "not reachable". As soon as they refill their account, then your call will go through, and their number is now reachable. 🙂

PPS stands for "Pre Paid Service" 6180 means that the number is disconnected, out of service, terminated, out of range, or out of reach of any towers.

That’s crap!  I just had a prepaid AT&T android loaded with $25.00 - 3 months unlimited talk/text/data card and even after he loaded it and and received confirmation.  It still says that and no calls or text go in or out.  I’m livid

Maybe I'm missing something, but $25 isn't enough to pay for 1 month of unlimited, let alone 3.

Hello @THREESTOOGES

From what I understand, the message you're hearing means your number is being blocked on their end, and if this is the case, they shouldn't see any missed calls or be able to receive text messages.

If it's not intentional, I recommend stopping by an AT&T store to get your plan and their phone checked.

Thank you,

Dmitriy

Hi @SEEDY3333

pps stands for Pre Paid Service I believe, and the error code means their phone is unavailable at this time, either out of service area, disconnected or out of money. If you're sure they haven't changed their number or canceled, you'll just need to try again later.

Thanks,

Dmitriy

I think it is due to pre paid phone with no credit. I have sent a text message to this number will they receive the message.

That's a common reason. If the phone is inactive they won't receive any messages or show missed calls, even after they refill their account.

Thanks,

Dmitriy

I am getting this message on all phone calls I try to make...not just to one phone number. I tried restarting my phone but nothing is seeming to fix it. I can send texts and do anything else, but I can make a call. Help!?

I got the same recording yesterday when I called my son.  He never set up voicemail and his phone was off.

Apparently, my phone is giving out this same message randomly to people trying to call me... NONE of the above list of items it "could possibly be" is accurate to my account.  My phone is on and active, I do have my voicemail set up and I sometimes it goes to voicemail sometimes this "isn't accepting calls... " message is heard.  I've called at&t repeatedly and get the same 30 minute runaround.  I'm ultimately forwarded to "advanced technical support"... have to go throught the same mucking about, only to have them say they "reset" my account, they disconnect and call my number to "check and see if the problem is fixed".. of course they get my voicemail right away... they assume the problem is "corrected", but of course it is not... It keeps happening.   So.... If the above list of possible reasons does not apply to me and people calling my number keep randomly getting the above message what do I do to get this resolved!?!?!?!

I have an unusual question on this topic.  Someone I knew recently fled persecusion and is considered a missing person.  This was nearly a year ago.  Out of curiosity I tried calling his cell today and recieved this message.

My question is this: If this message is given does that mean that his account is still active? Did he just simply block me?  I had assumed he stopped paying his account and threw away his phone as he in on the run from police.

His number may have been recycled.  It would be odd if a fugitive kept his number, it would make tracking him a snap.

LOL

So that was slick... I tried to respond to the above by clicking on the link.... It sent me to a private message page that required a contact name... I copied and pasted the JP etc, and "no matches" were found no matter how I configured the name.  So, guess what?  I am STILL having the same issue and NO RESOLUTION.

Please post a valid contact name so that if I "private message" anyone who might be able to help, my phone number, etc, it might get through.

That would be very helpful

Thank You

Rosalind.

@artymiss42  When I click the link it sent me to a pre-addressed page. Try using a different browser or computer.

To be clear: there is a line to add a username (additional) but above the line I can see it's already adressed to AT&T. I'll say the blank spot does visually overwhelm the prefilled name.

Yes, you can get a replacement SIM card on an ATT corporate store.

Assuming this message is being received because the customer has not paid the bill or the account is empty, is there any way to determine how much longer it will be before the number is revoked?

I moved back into an area where I used to live and was interested in getting my old number back. I have been calling my old number and getting this message for about 4 months now. I check every couple of days waiting for a disconnection message of some sort, but would like to have an idea as to when the number might become available and/or if perhaps it has reached the time when AT&T can pull the number and perhaps they will pull it so I can have it.
