Text from 11112009

I received the following text today from 11112009, how can I confirm it’s actually from AT&T?

“Hi, it's AT&T. Great News! You've paid off your current phone. If you're interested in learning about our upgrade offer on the epic iPhone 13 Pro Max, reply YES to receive details.”

Texts from AT&T usually start with “AT&T free msg” or “AT&T msg” not “Hi it’s AT&T”.

It's undoubtedly a scam.  I bought my phone from Apple and got this same bogus message.

AT&T’s billing program probably searches for remaining installments and if it “0” it sends a text out. I received one today on the same subject.

I reported the same text to 7726 and the response from 7726 was different from what I usually get:

AT&T Free Msg: It is likely that your message came from a short code. Please return to the original message and reply STOP.

I tried replying "stop" to 1112009 and I got an auto-response a little while later:

AT&T AUTO REPLY: You have opted out of AT&T marketing text messages. Please allow up to 10 days for this to become effective. Please do not REPLY to this message.

Now I'm confused lol. It still feels like a scam :/

@traceratops I believe responses you got prove the text came from ATT.

Hello @, let's look into the responses you received when you reported to 7726.

As @sandblaster mentioned, the responses that you received prove that the text came from AT&T. Allow up to 10 days for the opt out to become effective.

Hopefully this information helps, and thank you for reaching out to the Community.

Hmm.  I'm trying to like the OP but keep getting an error:

Failed to perform the conversation activity, please try again.

No difficulty liking second post in the thread.

And that link doesn't work!  404 at

Have Apple or AT&T blocked the #?  Agree - Scammer.   I got the message too; it appeared in Messages on my Mac the same day. I had replied, for kicks, and get a Not Delivered error for any message I try to send as a reply (from Messages on iPhone) including STOP.  To be thorough, I just opened it on my iPhone and sent STOP from there, and in that case, I also get the message:

AT&T AUTO REPLY: You have opted out of AT&T marketing text messages. Please allow up to 10 days for this to become effective. Please do not REPLY to this message.

But AT&T is negligent here - they should be blocking the # by now.

Perhaps they meant, "Please do REPLY to this message."🤪

@ATTHelp well, it's cute to say that it's from ATT and that we can unsubscribe but, like, I never subscribed to receive this - quite the opposite. And I don't reply to spam texts from anyone - it's not a good idea. In my account I am very clearly not subscribed to receive anything from you. And yet you spammed me. What gives? Like, we're not happy.

@ATTHelp again, you've shown that you're sending the messages. Well, you're sending them inappropriately. The burden of effort should be on you and not on the phone owners. Your answers are unsatisfactory.
