Switching Carriers Once Contract is Up???
i will be leaving att once my contract is up
my contract is up the 15 so i will be switching to another carrier
after i leave on that day how does the bill work?
do i have to pay the full amount for the rest of that month?
also will be transfering my number over
so i would probably do that about a day before because it could take some time before it fully ports over

Porting your numbers cancels your account. You will be asked to pay your final bill immediately.
If you will be out of contract, you have no ETFs to worry about.
Once the last bill is paid you can request unlocking of your phones from unlock portal.

Your contract end date and your billing end day may not be on the same date. Check your bills for your billing ending date and port your line out after your contract end date but a few day prior to your billling end date.
If you don't port out until after the billing end date, you will be responsible for that month's bill. No cell phone provider will prorate the final month's billing.

Port out a day too soon and you'll be hit with an ETF. Port out a day too late and you'll have to pay for another full month of service, even though you don't use it. You really have no control over the port date; the new carrier will tell you it could take 1-3 days to be effective.
Your best choice is to wait until May and plan to port out 3 days before the end of your billing cycle.
